Atencio 05-12-2006, 04:56 PM some cool ones there
MoparNut360 05-14-2006, 12:00 AM Nice pics! I have a few of those myself.
ParkRNDL 05-15-2006, 03:04 PM I REALLY want one of those Chevelles like in the second pic...
I still have the one I got as a kid but it's beyond trashed. Missing the front chrome, window posts broken out, it's had like 3 Testors brush paint jobs...
I keep finding interesting Zee/Zylmex cars here and there... a Monza with opening hatch, a '79 or so Z/28, a '57 Chevy...
Did MotorMax evolve from Zee/Zylmex?

stanmmx 12-27-2006, 03:44 AM Dear All:
Nice sequence of pictures above.
One of the models from Zylmex that does not show up often is the Opel Coupe and Peugeot Racer. The Opel I got came with a box, which was a model sold abroad,I assume.Other scarce ones includes their Country Squire Station Wagon (that I do not have).

Did MotorMax evolve from Zee/Zylmex?

Dear Rick:
In a way, yes.By 1995,Zylmex was part of Red Box and in that period enphasis was given to large scales, while the 1/64 scaled cars kept the same.By 2000 or so,Motormax name was inprinted on the cards, and by 2001 the first new Motormax castings appeared. In a way, they are the sucessors of Zee/Zylmex and notice that some of the cars from Zylmex are still sold in Motormax Packs or Boxes. As of now,Motormax is a division of Red Box.

Dave Weber 12-29-2006, 05:42 PM Up until about 1995, Zyllco - manufacturer of Zeetoy and Zylmex were last marketed in the US by Intex Recreation in Calif. Included in the Intex line were also some MC Toy models. Upon the divestiture of diecast by Intex, MC Toy has become Maisto and Zyllco was acquired by Red Box Int - also known as RBI. Their product name has developed into the nicely produced MotorMax models we are seeing at present .
This history and many others are recorded in a new book - just published by ICONOGRAFIX in Hudson WIsc. I had the fortunate experience to serve as a Co-author on the project under lead author Kimmo Sahakangas . The "Encyclopedia of Small Scale Diecast Manufacturers" is available via Amazon.com at a sizeable discounted price. ISBN-13: 978-1-58388-174-3 and Lib of Cong #2006926931 .We have received many positive comments from various collectors worldwide. Perhaps some of the readers on this site may also find this softback book will solve some if not all of their collection questions. If so, enjoy!
stanmmx 01-21-2007, 11:30 PM Dear All:
Not all questions are answered, for since I can not provide photos of this Olds Cutlass I found at Toys R Us in 1984 and that is a very unique model,no one is able to comment much about it.
The Maistos I have which came on Zylmex packs is the Toyota SR5 racer (nothing - not even MC Toys - is marked at its base) in 1987;later on,the Mercedes 560 coupe (I have to find it to see which marking there are at its base) and Ford F-100 pick up (the latter, fortunately is selaed at its Zylmex blisterpack).
Motormax is still selling Zylmex castings (boxed or blisterpack with their new card graphics) and I got what seems to be Maisto's casting of the Mercedes 560 (I do not think the hood opens on that tough.I will need to open the pack to investigate. To be done as soon I find another example.
