hi i have windows xp home edition and my system has been crashing lately. it will just randomly restart while i am doing nothing, then once it's up again it will come up with a microsoft error report and when i send the report it brings me to a page on microsofts website and says the my error was caused by a device driver. the web site lists it as a windows stop error and says that the computer needs to resart to recover. i think that i have narrowed the problem to my network card, or maybe the router? because one time while the computer was starting up i was playing with cables and took out the internet cable on the modem and then the computer restarted as soon as i plugged it back in. does any one know for sure what the problem is, or how to fix it?
any help is appreciated
thankyou kevin

Specs on your system, what accessories you have installed (printers, scanners, USB gadgets).. What was your last thing you installed, updated or patched just before this started up.

it's a windows xp system (desktop) with a wireless router for laptops i have a inkjet hp printer usb and a laser hp printer wireless print server. dvd writer usb and scanner usb camera usb. i don't remeber what the last thing that i installed was but whatever it was the computer was working great for months after i did it. i have a via rhineII network card and am having trouble only when i enable the card under network connections, i also recieved a new modem for cablevision optonline (voip) and thats when the trouble started this new modem doesn't have a standby button on it, so i have been disableing the network card when i don't want to be online.
