ROAR ANNOUNCEMENTS
5/2/06
The Trinity Komodo 19T motor has been conditionally approved for sanctioned racing. The motor will appear on the approved product list as soon as the revised papework is completed.

5/1/06 ROAR Promotions Director
Adrian Martinez has been appointed to the ExCom as the new Promotions Director. Adrian promises to bring more excitement and even greater expanded ROAR communication to the members. He replaces Dawn Sanchez who was named ROAR Vice President earlier this year. Dawn's work in this position has been invaluable and Adrian expects to add to an already improved website and enhanced ROAR image.
Adrian has been in the r/c field for many years. While his involvement has been primarily electric racing he has raced some fuel classes and enjoys all aspects of r/c racing.
The ExCom has no doubt that he will prove to be a real asset to the entire ROAR organization.
Welcome Adrian!

4/25/06 IFMAR Electric Chairman
Congratulations to Kenny Bergschulz on his election to IFMAR Electric Section Chairman giving ROAR a significant position within the IFMAR structure. While this position stresses an IFMAR viewpoint with regards to changes and issues we have no doubt Kenny will be impartial and fair in his new IFMAR position.
Kenny will also continue in his present position on the ExCom as National Track Director in which he has made significant strides in the area of shoring up ROAR's regional directorships and providing a very thorough Regional Directors' Manual.
Congrats Kenny!

4/18/06 IFMAR Electric Representative
Ernie Provetti named IFMAR Electric Representative.
With the restructuring of the Secretary's responsibilities the Electric Representative position has been made into a separate position in order to devote more time to expressing ROAR's position with the IFMAR community. Longtime r/c business owner Provetti has agreed to provide the necessary time and the strength of position required for the upcoming IFMAR electric issues. The ExCom has every confidence that Ernie's experience will enable him to express and defend ROAR's position regarding these issues as well as initiating ROAR legislation in future IFMAR electric matters. The IFMAR Electric and Fuel Representatives both support the President and keep the ExCom informed of significant IFMAR developments. Welcome Ernie!

4/1/06 Race Management Director
Doug Hay has been appointed to the new position of Race Management Director. The RMD will be in charge of arranging for the particular personnel who will manage ROAR's National events. Doug has been involved in numerous ROAR Nationals and been significant in introducing useful features to these events as well. Doug has demonstrated a very thorough working knowledge of race management and scoring and ROAR is fortunate that he has stepped forward to make the ROAR Nationals an even better experience.
Doug will be working closely with the ExCom and we look forward to his help.
Welcome aboard Doug!

Now that a manufacturer of race management software has been appointed as "race management director", does that mean that his software product will be the software of choice for running national events?

If so, this seems to be a truly questionable move.

bUT....this would be OK as long as they(roar) provide the timing and scoring for every national event. this would mean they(roar) bring the lap top the printers and timing and scoring loops. plus they bring tech and the announcer to every national event. if they did the above I (track owner) would be in heaven. track owner now just has to promote and prep the track.roar concentrates on running the race and making sure everyone is legal. if the above is done correctly i think this is a giant step ahead for roar. and this is coming from someone who is not a big fan of most of what they do.

host tracks provide the track, promotion and surface.
roar provides tech an announcer and all scoring componets.
looks good on paper?

Katfish,

How do you do your series deal? Do you bring the computer, scoring system, announcer, tech crew etc.? (I'm always curious as to how the "other guys" are doing things.)

joe the series provides:
full time announcer paid for by the series
full time tech paid for by the series
all trophies on race day paid for by the series
all year end trophies paid for by the series
the series helps promote each and every event
the series provides clip boards for heats and mains
camera man

the track:
provides a prepped surface
restrooms
scoring loop
sometimes a scoring system(this happens when kenny holmes cannot attend an event)
printer

i feel it is vital to bring a series to the track. let the track do what it does best, provide a place to race at.

the track gets the lions share of the monies as well
needless to say the six tracks on our schedule like the focar series. superior hobbies would like a focar event each month if they had there way, lol.

joe i have tried to email you at the addy given on the web site but it comes back to me?

i realy think we(series promoters) should start a thread on hobby talk to discuss how we do things. i still have alot of questions to ask. good idea? or bad? lol

thanks bill

Doug hay has taken his software to every race he has attended.. he also has his laptop hooked inline with the race computer.. he watches everything and makes sure it is right to the T.. He also Has access to online race coverage site.. Would be cool to be able to watch every ROAR race live..

Not only is his software hands down the best ever but his support is even better.. When you buy his software you get his cell number.. not to mention updates as they are made..I highly doubt a host track would have to buy his software for a race..

When doug was designing his software i saw him there almost every race day hooked inline with the race pc making sure everything was perfect.. I think this is a great move for ROAR..

congrats to kenny and adrian.. However im not sure a manufacturer (erie p) should be on any committee that has barganing chips for rules..

RC Scoring Pro software will be used at National events although ROAR has paid for several copies of the software and purchased several lap top computers to travel to events with the RMT. Also, ROAR has purchased tech equipment and will provide all aspects of management of the national events. The creator of the software is the RMT National Director which only makes sense since scoring software is the MOST crucial aspect of a well run event. Who better to run things than the guy who created the software and has more experience running events in different areas of the nation? :)

For more information regarding the RMT, log into www.roarracing.com (http://www.roarracing.com/) and on the home page is a link to a letter Mike Queller, ROAR President, has written to the membership to explain the method and the purpose of the RMT for the ROAR nationals.

Edit: thought I would add the link for you....

Dawn,
Since Oval is one of the smaller area's of racing left. Will The RMT, His software and Equipment be at both the Carpet and Paved Oval Nationals each year ?

First, the RMT is ROAR's Race Management Team. Doug has been contracted to be the director, or the supervisor over the other contracted members of the team. ROAR's purchased software, which happens to be RC Scoring Pro will be in attendance of the events - at this current writing.

But to answer your question, yes, that is the plan.

6/5/06 Body Committee Changes.

Scott Cramer has been appointed to the new position of Body Committee Chairman. The Body Committee had previously been chaired by the Tech Director but separating this position was deemed necessary in order to improve submittal turnaround and to devote more attention to body dimensioning, especially involving Touring Car bodies. Matt Wojtkowiak will continue on the Body Committee, working with Scott.

Manufacturers planning new submittals please be advised that the Body Approval Form will be updated shortly for Scott's address. Matt's will remain the same.

Scott brings dedication to this position and will primarily establish improved body standards. Welcome Scott!

When is ROAR going to rule on the new brushless motors that are equal to 27t stock motors (I know they are brand new...just asking)?

I for one would like to dump brushes, dynos, etc. Seems like brushless stock (Novak 13.5) = easier for a starter/rookie to learn to tune his/her chassis, instead of motor.

We still need a spec/beginners class in every form of racing. Long ago it was Tamiya class. Look at the Mini 1/18th scale race...SPEC class...a modified RC-18B...give spec back to the kids!

when one is submitted.....?? :)

sorry, sarcasm got the best of me... basically, there is a procedure to introduce new technology into the rule book and another one to approve motors, batteries and bodies.

The makers of these motors know the rules and I'm sure ROAR will start the evaluation process pretty quickly.

Thanks for the reply...I'd just love to ditch the brushes etc and go with brushless.

07/18/06 ROAR Tech Director Named.
David Lee has been asked and has accepted his new position as ROAR
Tech Director, replacing Bob Ingersoll who tendered his resignation
last month. ROAR wishes again to thank Bob for his years of service and
hopes that when time dictates he may return again to offer his help.
Thanks Bob!

David has been serving ROAR for some time as the Competition Director
and will continue in that capacity until a suitable replacement is
named. This position mostly involves nationals bid submittals,
supporting nats site locations, and rules support. Also included are
reviews of competition deviations, race flyers, and racehost
checklists. A CD must have the time to officiate 1-2 national events
and attend two weekend meetings per year.
Members wishing to contribute to ROAR as the Competition Director
should submit one page resumes to mtqroar@aol.com.
