View Full Version : List 5 cars you would like to see added to the Fresh Cherries line
ilikecolllectdi 03-19-2007, 01:39 PM Seeing that Fresh Cherries goes to the mid-80s with the Pontiac Fiero, I like now to suggest some cars of that era (and with some reason why must be considerer)

1981 Ford Escort wagon ( first FWD small american wagon)
1982 Buick Century ( quite fancy)
1982 Chevrolet Cavalier 4 doors ( U.S. best sellers in the mid-80s)

1983 Mercury Cougar (quite fancy)
1984 Ford Tempo/Mercury Topaz ( successful succesors of the Fairmont/Zephyr)
Hoping your comments and more suggestions

Mark Hosaflook 04-02-2007, 02:18 PM The Amphicar and King Midget would be awesome. this post has grown to well over 7,000 replies. It's become so varied with suggestion that it almost lost it's focus. Is anybody keeping tabs? There may be more than 2,000 different casting suggestions on here.
Maybe we need to tabulate and come up with a top ten or something?
stanmmx 04-02-2007, 02:38 PM Maybe we need to tabulate and come up with a top ten or something?
Dear All:
That sounds like a good ideia;this way one will see which ones were the most requested.
I also should add that besides me,many other members also agree that more Station Wagons should be done;so these should be add to the ten list.
HOVEHICLE 04-02-2007, 04:36 PM I like mercurymontegogt's 5 Mercurys alot; excellent choices that I would love to see in HO scale. They would look good in diners or on the streets of the appropriate time period. We need Mercurys in HO, that's for sure.

ilikecolllectdi 05-18-2007, 11:04 AM How about 1986 Taurus LX and Sable LS sedans and wagons???
hi, the Sable wagon of the 1986 model was already made by Matchbox :p , and the Taurus sedan I think was made by ERTL in the Speed strips series in police version, but I still didn´t know how is exactly is this one
One of my plans to customize another diecast car is with a clunky 1986 Mercury Sable wagon of Matchbox and converted into a 1992 Ford Taurus wagon
;)

No question about it. I want to see them make Granadas, Monarchs, and Versailles's long before they make these two.
madmanmark 05-21-2007, 07:15 AM After reading all these posts, the conclusion I come to is that the next Cherry to come out of Motormax should be a '76 Chrysler Cordoba.
A Cordoba in 1/24, 1/64, and 1/87. Modular tooling to also produce a '76 Charger, '78 Magnum XE, and '79 Cordoba 300. Any thoughts?
stanmmx 05-21-2007, 10:27 AM Dear All:
Yes for the Cordoba and its variations and Granada and its Counterparts.

I like to comments something about every car listed ( my principal interest is in the 1/60 - 1/64 scale)
Late 70's early 80's Monza Coupe ( good idea, Fresh cherries in 1/60)
Early 80's Mercury Capri ( I will make a custom version soon)
80's Nova ( Did you mean the Toyota twin, could be a great idea in 1/60)
Any 70's or 80's Dodge truck ( ´78 version made by JL)
Plymouth Lazer or Lancer ( I voted for the 80s Lancer in 1/60)
Ford Bronco II ( already dne by Matchbox and Majorette in 1/60)
Mercury Topaz ( cool, like to see in 1/60, and also to make the 1/87 Tempo into a 1/60)
80's or 90's Pontiac LeMans ( original versions of these cars , The Opel Kadett, already done by Matchbox and Guisval)
Early 80's Lebarron Convertible ( already done by racing champions, very bad results)
Oldsmobile Ferinza 80's ( I voted for the sedan version in 1/60)
Geo Metro Any year ( more likely the post ´95 models in 1/60)
Dodge Dart ( ´73 Sport model in 1/64 already done by Yatming)
Chevy Pup or Luv truck ( also done by Yatming, the 70s version)

Mark Hosaflook 05-21-2007, 02:07 PM After serious consideration and months of computer polls, license agreement potential and "fit" for the Fresh Cherries line I am happy to announce the list has been paired down to these five cars.

I agre with all of the above,in any order.
HOVEHICLE 05-21-2007, 11:01 PM Mark,
Are you serious? The only car that fits the Fresh Cherries theme is the Impala wagon. I thought the general idea was to go with AMERICAN cars from the 70's-80's. I'll take the Impala wagon in HO scale; then again, any station wagon from the Big 3 (American) would be nice and it would be nice to see 1990's cars too.

Dear Vito:
Maisto, in their Pro Rodz series, made a Chevrolet Biscayne Wagon 1962,in 1/64 scale. Motormax will release their Chrysler Le Baron Town & County SW soon, and as rumour goes,RC2/Johnny Lightning may do a Chevrolet Wagon 1974. Granted, all are 1/64,but are wagon miniatures, nevertheless. And I am aware that you know that Atlas will have the Fairmont Wagon soon.

madmanmark 05-22-2007, 06:21 AM I was also under the impression that the Cherries cars were American cars from the '70s and '80s. That said, I believe this would be a more appropriate reflection of the wish list:
'76 Cordoba
'75 Granada/Monarch
'81-'89 Cavalier/Sunbird/Firenza/Skyhawk/Cimmaron
'74-'76 Valiant/Dart
'71-'76 Chevy/Pontiac/Oldsmobile/Buick large wagon
Of course, all available in 1/24,1/64, and 1/87.

yes, yes, totally agree with you madmanmark. Besides, the J-cars of GM was a world car, and having at least a Cavalier could be done other models of the same era, like:
- Vauxhall Cavalier
- Opel Ascona
- Holden Camira
- Chevrolet Monza ( the brazilian version of the J-car)

Now that's a series I couldn't rank most-least. I'd want them all!!!
I'm really suprised that no one has made a Cordoba or Granada. Those names ALWAYS seem to pop up whenever a wanted list is posted.

I am too. I would also like to see the Monza and Sunbird notchback coupes, with and without the opera windows. My sister almost bought a 78 Monza coupe with the landau roof and opera windows, looked a lot like a baby Chevelle from 74-77. Instead though, she bought a 78 Monte Carlo, at my Dad's request......he hated small cars and talked her into the larger and more expensive Monte. My other sister didn't listen to him in 76 and bought a new Monza Spyder notchback with the larger rear side window. I have never seen another like it.
HOVEHICLE 05-22-2007, 10:57 PM Madmanmark,
The Ford Taurus might not be the first choice of collectors in larger scales, but in HO scale I think it would sell well because of the model railroaders. We could use American cars from the 80's as there is a shortage right now, probably the least served decade in the hobby. That car was the best selling car in its day and I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated in HO scale. The same thing applies to the Taurus wagon, it would be well received. Come on, Motormax, more 80's!
