yeah I think it will work out good for you, I know alot of dirt racers that use the GTS including my brother and it is working out just fine for him, but as for the motor, I would look around for a little bit better motor but if the associated is you only option it will work out just fine for you,
Good Luck,
keep us posted on your progress and how everything is working,

For a good Spec Motor I would recommend,
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKER2&P=7 OR http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDUN0&P=7

For a good Mod. Motor I would recommend

Now those where higher dollor motors but there is cheaper ones if these where alittle to much then you wanted to pay.
Here is some cheaper ones,

i have heard some good things about this motor and they are pretty cheap,

well i run a 15X2 venom fireball, great deal for 15.99, but it flys and is very easy to maintain, also it dosent eat brusher too fast, well it barely eats them, so im guessing the 13t would fly

What do you guys think of this set up?

Novak GTS pro sport ESC
Team Orion Orbital motor 2r pro bb
Pro-line M2 Moab truck
Duratrax 3800mah battery pack
Full set of ball beaings
Pro-line 1/10 ford f-150 rustler body

How does that sound? What kind of gearing change would be best for this set up, Iam going to be bashing a hole lot and a little racing with my friends

That looks like a pretty good set up I would find a happy medium for gearing Going with bearings will help out a great deal. Check the temp of your motor if you find your low on speed and the motor is hot go up a few teeth. If you are lacking punch and the motor is cool drop a few. I've had good luck with Novak they rarely let me down and there customer service is great. I've never used anything by Orion but it should be fine.

yeah i would have to say Novak makes some of the best stuff out there, the set-up you got listed should work out just fine for you, about the gearing you really just have to play around with it.
