hello all just want to say hi. And ask for some help.
I rebuilt a 3.5 hp lawnmower seris 9500 cant tell for sure, as shrowed is not original to mower. Junk yard find . Well I rebuilt it with new sump gasket new head gasket carb rebuild ,with aid of briggs manual and all the important stuff is with the manuals specs. bore and ring gap and all that. now it wants to go but for a short time and it seems to be flooding itself. remove plug and soaked with gas. I have noticed that fuel is leaking from carb base to tank. Its a pulsajet carb. Some sort of metal carb. I also noticed some oil leaking out the oil breather gasket. I did a compression test it indicates abt. 60 psi lots of spark . when it does run it shakes alot and has one speed (Idle) not very fast I try to adjust needle valve and it dies . sorry to be so longwinded for the first post. Thanks .

it could be lots of things, the flooding part could be un hooked bowl/needle, on mine it was flooding, so I took the carb apart, and where the float is connected to the needle that allows the gas to come in wasn't hooked properly, and was flooding the enigne when turned over.

Bad gaskets???

for needle valve, 1.5 turns out from snug in

Bsman, this is a carb mounted to tank style. Uses pickup tubes and a diapragm. The gasket between needs replacing... also the tank could be warped.... with these old ones its best to switch over to the newer plastic carb (yeah plastic, but they work better) you'll have to get the newer style gastank to go with it, small engine shops and places like you found ths shroud, and get a good carb and tank. You also need a new breather gasket and it to be tightened down good. As for the shaking.... check the blade to see if its uneven (nail in a post, make sure it levels out) and isn't bent, same for the crank, make sure the crank isn't bent. Also make sure the blades on tight and the engines on tight.

I have a newer tank and will give that a try .The old carb now has two plastic tubes coming out of it. I have another pulsa jet wit a single tube. will this make a difference. On running this engine. Thanks

Yes it should, when they changed em, they just changed the carb, and the tank a little. The newer carb you have is all plastic right?
