I purchased my first Matchbox in about 15 years today and I was hoping that someone could give me a little info on it. I was browsing the JL at Wally today and just happened to look over at the MB. I never would have noticed this but it was the first car on the peg and it was a Mustang, what I collect. Rather than Superfast it says Steakers in multi colored letters. All the other cars, about 25, had Superfast. So what gives with this.
Thanks in advance guys!!!

Superfasts are 2002+ to commemorate Matchboxes first cars, and the Superfasts are releases of thier best selling models. The "Streakers" IIRC was a kids version? Got any pix?

Thanks for the response. Yes here are some pictures. This is actually kinda cool. I actually have the same casting loose in blue but do not know how old that one is. This looks to be brand new. It has a yellow windshield and a license plate that reads 66 retro.

Puppycat, as Olesarge90 has mentioned in his posting, these are new and part of the
2006 NSF line-up. Time will tell if the theme is successful with MB collectors.

You are really branching out in your diecast collecting interests.
BYW, there are several other Mustangs in the NSF series from other years.
And then there are the ROW colour exclusives....... Welcome to the world of MB.

Cheers. Cobra

Gill,

Any idea what color the Scion xB is going to be? I finally tracked down a couple of the blue ones with the help of BOOGIEVANMAN in Canada.

Rob,
I must confess that I have a pic of it in an excel file and why I don’t know but I did not save it as a jpg.

So I can’t show it now but it appears to me to be a dark color either dark green or black. It could also be a dark charcoal color as well not sure.

"Streakers" were Superfast toys in the 70s with brighter than usual colors and tampo printing. Rather early date for tampo printing, I might add!

Here are some of mine:

Okay I did a little digging into the attic and found this. I have had this one for a coupe of years but it appears to be the same casting.

and I might be imagining things but does the paint jobs on these Streakers, both old and new, remind anyone of the paint on the old Yatming casting?

I found the Navigator at WM a few days ago. They had tons of 'em, although when I went last night, they were gone.
