sorry it has taken me so damn long to get this posted.
what can I say? race # 1 was shot out of a cannon! 84 entries at the track too tough to tame! the weather was awesome and the racing was even better! trackside hot dogs and live timing and scoring on the internet.
not to toot my own horn but I have to say that when I started this series 3 years ago I imagined a race like we had 2 weeks ago. I honestly thought there was nothing too this and every race would be perfect. those that have been with the series since race one know that is far from the truth!
with the help from allot of friends and strangers alike I think I got one race right! a huge thanks to rich boehmler and Ronnie hames for there support through the good and bad. without those two guys I would have thrown in the towel.ok enough about me.on with the good stuff.......
the brushless 4300 class had 12 entries and some very good racing. Dave puliafico was TQ in this class and also took the win! nice job David.....old timer Ernie bucci and Ocala native Michael (the glitch) gitchell followed closely behind! Dave drove down from Jacksonville to tame the marble park.
sprint class: with 6 sprints entered I think this class was up for grabs. kip and Michael took turns leading this race with Kip leading the last lap to take the win. kip entered 3 classes and did well in them all! nice job kip. rockin ron tried his hand at the sprint class with his new car and got faster every round. the sprints did look cool on the short track.
10th scale stock: this class has a few new racers to the series and I knew it was going to be anyone's race. Eugene biala went 49 laps in the main when it counted and drove away with a hard fought victory. MTR's mike dispenza took 2nd and brian douthett rounded out the top three! nice job fellas.
pro stock: this class has gotten smaller every year with allot of the guys switching to brushless for 2006. none the less it was not an easy win for anyone. Orlando's fast man Billy Bruce took TQ honors and the win. MTR's Chris Lawson took second with a focar first timer Scott(number cruncher) fillingham taking third.
12scale 19 turn: 11 cars total in this class and what can I say MR. mini mike bean smoked the field with 58 laps and took TQ honors. the bear himself in his mini mav ride took second with moist and meaty curt Sanderson finishing in third. mike bean also put on the rabbit ears and kept the winning tradition alive for Easter! mike is a good sport and loves his 12th scale racing. who is going to step up and take away his winning streak? paging DR. boylan DR. boylan
19turn sportsman is new for 2006 and I think it gives the guys who are starting to run 19 turn a place to race door to door and have fun at the same time. john houser had a good car all day he just didn't have any luck in the qualifiers. he saved the luck for the main, taking the win with 58 laps! ron Thomas and Greg Walsh rounded out the top three.
19 turn pro mod: 37 entries and only one winner! who else but MR. MTR and MR. oval himself mike boylan takes the win with a possible new track record in the A main! 62 laps nice run mike! Dave pull takes a nice 2nd place run followed by Billy Bruce! great job guys.
we signed up 17 new focar members and sold out of focar shirts! UNREAL!!!!!! we will have new shirts at hobby world and the points posted as well. we have allot of new blood in the series and it just feels alive to me! please help out the new guys if you see them having issues..I know when I first started I got allot of help from guys like bucci and boylan!
kip Christian and roger now have a new battery sponsor with team power push! guys these sponsors are on the look out for drivers to represent them in the series. last year Dave pull and tom pedano got TQ cells and now power push signed up some racers. you never know who is watching these results. I also saw allot of progress from armon and Jeff Irish at MTR. soon these guys will be battling for the lead..it's nice to see them figure this flat racing out. thanks to the Naples crew for coming up and the j ville crew for coming down. the Lauderdale guys for coming over and the MTR locals for just being a great bunch of guys!
this was a very good race and I just see it getting better all year long! thank you all for your support and I look forward to hobby world and doing this all over again! I see 100 entries in the future! WOW!
