Greetings all;
According to the Johansen book Atlas made the Avanti HO slotcar from '64 to '66.Is this correct? Did Atlas actually make the Avanti in '63 or '62 ? I was wondering if Studebaker Corporation in some way sponsered The Atlas Avanti sort of like Ford's relationship to Aurora. I know that Studebaker discontinued the Avanti in December of '63 though the one's built after September were technically '64 models. The successor company that built the Avanti ll (Avanti Motors/Newman & Altman) would have been too small to be bothered with HO racing (They built 100 cars average per year) .However Just by letting Atlas make the Avanti was also a sort of free advertising even if it would have been technically a copyright infringement. If any body has any info it would be appreciated.
