View Full Version : Leading Edge LEX1 ?
disruptor10 04-22-2006, 11:49 AM Looking for some input on this dirt chassis ? Anyone , i know it looks sweet but how thin is it in comparison to the stock GBX chassis ? does it really help the car turn ? Any input would be appreciated , thanks Dave rcracer3@iwon.com
ovalnator 04-22-2006, 09:40 PM If you have a GBX EDM....you need to have that chassis...makes a world of difference
Or go with a Putnam Conversion...but then you will need an entire Terminator front end.
If your looking for one the Leading Edge Chassis', give Redneck RC a call...they have a couple sitting in the shop
mhawk11 04-22-2006, 09:51 PM not sure about the lexi or stock terminator but the Leading Edge DC1 is .095 thick, to me it seems the hole pattern helps it to flex as well as the thickness.
wich chassis are you using currently?
JasonAB25 04-23-2006, 01:33 AM mhawk11, is it just me, or does the motor sit right next to the batts on the DC1 chassis?? literally on top of the batteries. I just picked one up and got everything in it tonight and was wondering on this. Thanks
Jason
mhawk11 04-23-2006, 10:09 AM jason, yeah, it is very close... but i don't think i'll run a big enuff spur gear for the motor to hit the battery... at least i hope not
i built a few chassis in the past and it's hard to get the battery over to the left with a reversed tranny mid motor configuration and keep the wheelbase.
the cars awsome though aint it? these new dirt cars are a real work of art, i finally put my ol rc10 graphite chassis away in the storage box.
JasonAB25 04-23-2006, 11:53 AM Yea they are nice, now if I can just find a track closer than 3 hours away to go and race at:( Thanks
Jason
ovalnator 04-24-2006, 03:01 PM move to Central NY and you will have approx 9 tracks within 2 hr driving distance
mhawk11 04-24-2006, 06:56 PM wow... 9? in the syracuse-watertown area... right?
eagle one
redneck's
chico's
chipmunk hill
walt's
those are the only ones i know of
racerfreed 04-24-2006, 08:19 PM the shorter wheel base on the lex 1 chassis does help the steering some, the flex of the chassis was unbelievable, the car has a ton of grip built in. i still needed to make castor changes to get the car to turn in good.
ovalnator 04-25-2006, 01:52 PM Tracks within 2 hr driving distance of CNY....Ill use Syracuse as an example:
Redneck RC
Walts Hobby
Fingerlakes Raceway in Canandaigua
Little O Raceway in Sanborn/Lockport area
Joes Hobbies new track in Sanborn/Lockport area
Pinebowl raceway in Nassau
Competition Hobbies in Latham
Eagle One Raceway in Watertown
Chicos in LaFargeville
Chipmunk Hill in Teresa
Radio Hill Raceway in Dundee
and if you count the microd track at the fairgrounds that runs in the summer, thats 12

are you gonna take some castor out of the left front... leaving the tire more flat as it turns?
i was looking for some b3 blocks allowing less Lf castor, do they make a 15 or 10 degree?
ovalace 04-25-2006, 05:26 PM putnam car
these cars have adjustability in mind!! and on the dirt it's a plus.
ovalnator 04-25-2006, 05:27 PM you can still get the older rc10 blocks in 30, 25, 20, 10 and 5 degrees. The 15 degree blocks were discontinued some years ago due to the mold breaking (so I was told when I called associated about getting some). You can use these with the B3 kingpins if you cut off the section for the ball stud.

DaveW 04-25-2006, 06:20 PM Disruptor10 The LEX1 chassis is a direct replacement for the GBX. These are cut from material that ranges from .095-.100, The material thickness varies from batch to batch. Our main focus when designing the LEX1 was to increase steering and also reduce weight.
I have had many racers contact me after switching to the LEX1 chassis that have been very pleased.
I also offer the DC1 chassis that has been very popular, along with front and rear shock towers, rear body mount and graphite motor plates for the B3 transmission.
Many of the Leading Edge dealers have the dirt products in stock or they are a phone call away.
Thanks
Dave

yes, my car is a gbx with a leading edge chassis, they make 15 degree castor blocks, and you can use a 20 block turned backwords for 10 degree blocks, the car turned in great with lots of grip with 15 degree blocks and outlaw 8lb springs.
mhawk11 04-29-2006, 12:06 AM outlaw... is that the company name? i heard of guy's running schumacher springs but not outlaw. what spings you got on the back?
racerfreed 04-29-2006, 07:10 PM they are Custom Works outlaw 8lb springs front and rear.
mhawk11 04-29-2006, 10:46 PM any idea what the associated gold buggy one's are?
racerfreed 04-30-2006, 09:50 PM associated gold springs are 2.75 lb
