Gees Fellows I'm going to try and do this the Best way I can with out Bashing.. I recently purchased Car Action Performance Book it was 30 plus shipping.. its advertised like a Manual for Beginners and Season Veterans alike.. I got to call a spade a spade here guys its a spade.. in the Chassis Tuning Section they talked about shock positions they Quoted Josh Cyrul .. hmm maybe they should have asked someone else.. the Tire Gluing Section was weak real weak it didn't have anything you would find anywhere else it had no secrets to share... and there are secrets to that believe me I know.. there was nothing about how to really make a car work.. there are things they missed big time.. you know your usual caster does this camber does that..Basic Stuff we all know already Like diff Buidling and Such Those instructions come in the kits.. toe-in does this toe out doe that.. useless info about shocks that anyone doing this Hobby would know.. I personally am done with Car Action.. it has a very very small section about Roll Bars and discourages thier use.. I got news for ya Guys Roll Bars are a very Critical element In RC Racing .. In On Road and Off..The XXX Buggy and Truck Will not even turn Properly Without them!! I watched Barry Baker Win a National Event (I WAS THERE) with a Roll Bar on the Front of his MR4TC!!!!where is that info??? they allow you to corner at much Higher speeds. They can Make a Car Very Easy to Drive!!!!. They dont even touch on real handling aspects of RC Race cars at All.. They Never once Mention about suspension Bind-ups how to look for them and how to fix them!!! It says in the Book you will crush the Competiton.. I think I'll just Smack myself over the Head With the Stupid Book.. I would Put it On a certain website the begins with E for sale! but some Kid will buy it and get screwed Over.. I'm above that...They Missed Critical Elements of Tuning a Car for Great Driving Experience all together or skipped it intentionally.. probable the Latter.. They didnt even touch on the Most Critical element and Focus of Professional Rc Car tuning that would be consistent turning radius. of on-off power steering they missed missed missed.. I want my Money Back.. Good Bye :( 30 Dollars!!  :(

Unfortunally, "Seasoned veterans" doesn't mean the same thing to everyone.
Too many people just run their cars to death, year in and year out, and call themselfs "seasoned vets" even though they don't have alot of know-how. The book would do them some good, but not the true gear-heads like you and I  .

Are you the same "Rude Dog" of years past, the guy from Florida???

Later, Bret

ROFLMAO!!!!! at least your book is better than the one i bought from caraction, same story bought back in 97 though for the "info" for beginning and seasoned vets. i got a book that covered the rc 250/300, frigs, blackfoots etc. in fact i have to contact caraction tomorrow and gripe big time they sent me 2 copies of march first issue ever as a subscriber and the front cover looked like one i have had since 99, then i received the replacement copy of march instead of my april issue, i have paid for 2 year subscription and if it keeps going like this i will raise **** for a free 2 year subscription on top of it, at the present i am not happy with the way they are doing me with my subscription and the way they run their customer service.

Yes Brett its Me.. I was not involved in Racing for some time due to Professional Requirements on my employ.. its Okay it was worth it..Brett I Know you know this already but I'll cover for everyone else any way I dont know If I can put exactly what they said in thier in the book of crapola.. but I can put the correct info here..On Shock Positions. if only one end is adjusted it seems to have minimal effect On Handling its all about roll resitance.. Scenario would be lets say you have a Offroad Truck and its Pushing like crazy cant say what trucks do that but its starts with a (L). Ask them about it they will DA you to know what DA means you will have to email me as we all know I must behave here.. anyway to the scenario. when a shock is placed in more of a vertical position it will have LESS roll resistance which means the wieght of the car is transferred into the spring and not the Ground..when a Shock is more horizontal is Has More Roll Resistance which means More of the Cars weight pushed into the ground.. now Back to that pushing (L) Theres Basically Three settings Total I like to refer to them as Neutral. High Steer and Low Steer. I say this because I have found in my Humble years of experience that just making a move on one end does not seem to do much.. oh and by the way dont let all those holes confuse you on Touring cars .. there a upper set of holes and lower set of holes.. just make sure you would be working on the same row of holes front and rear.. Okay so to the High Steer Setting I would.. Put my rear Shocks in the Most Vertical Setting and My Front shocks in the Most Horizontal Setting.. this will allow the Wieght to transfer on the Rear More and inturn Force the front end which Has a High roll Resistance to Push the Outside front wheel Into the Ground More.. hence we all know the reverse now if we want less steering. Yep I run my mouth my creditabily comes from being right and really wanting to help my fellows racers.. Brett I'm tired of the Campaign of Misinfomation coming from these Big Companies.. I'm tired of seeing Guys I race with leave from being beat week after week and not getting help from anywhere.. I'm tired of the Fast Guys at Tracks. Not speaking to anyone but other fast guys.. I'm really tired of the Way these kids get treated at some of these tracks.. these are supposed to be grown men.. I've stopped one time in the middle of a Main.. and Gave my Controller to a Kid standing Next to after the Kid hit the Fast guy and a fast guy called him a Little Flake.. I let the Kid drive my car the rest of the Heat.. told the Fast Guy he was a (FD) .. And then the Kid enjoyed himself Loved Driving my Car did quite well with it
invited the Kid and his father over to my pit the Next week.. fixed his car all up got it dialed.. his dad went to Hobby shop bought some tires.. showed them how to do Offroad Tires Properly (NOT THE CAR ACTION METHOD) even showed balancing.. Fixed the Binding Rear axles In the T3 they come that way from the Factory. DId not Race that Day.. Fast Guy Broke His car In Main Totally (physc out by me I was pionting at him all night making gestures and such) Kid won..Fast Guy ran his mouth I told him I loved him and Jesus Loved him too he just seemed to get madder I dont understand I felt good about Hobby.. His Dad takes me to Olive Garden next Day I pigged out was very Happy.. had to go do Professional work got out of Racing for a WHile Kid calls me 1 year Later wants help with Touring RudeDog spends 2 Weekends Coaching Kid and Dad. Get call 2 Years Later From Kid . Kid Makes A-Main at Snowbird 19T Sedan .. Rudedog Feels Good again Cooks Steak On Grill drinks beer and goes to sleep watching Football.. what a Great Life

just thought that maybe i missed something here but why bash josh cyrul for a quote in a magazine without knowing him. i've watched josh come up through the ranks since he was about 10 years old. he has been one of the top drivers and tuners since he started and i saw him compete and beat some of the best drivers in the midwest. i will tell you this if josh told me what to do to my car to make it better i couldn't get it changed fast enough to what he said. i'm not the best by no means but when somebody like josh gives me free advice i will jump all over as would most who have seen him over the years. not meant to bash anybody just letting 20 yrs of watching him be one of the best in the world. thanks al
