What is the current ruling as far as cutting out the back of a body? Does it make any sense to leave the bumper intact, or does it create drag?

But if you leave the rear of the car intact, it's much easier for another car to spin you out, if it contacts the fully intact rear bumber area. rickster58 04-17-2006, 10:29 AM Ahhh I see. I have always noticed that almost nobody leaves the bumper intact. I just had figured it was because of drag. I had nevr even consider the other implications. Thanks Mike. You have a pm Larry B 04-17-2006, 01:21 PM I once asked the same question. I was told that it helped to keep the motor cool by letting the air flow out the rear and caused the car to have less lift from air at speed. There must have been some good reason for it. I have been doing this for 18 years and ROAR rules had already allowed it. But then again ROAR allowing it does not mean it was a good rule. Just look at what they have done to car weight. swtour 04-19-2006, 02:48 PM the old NORRCA use to mandate the backs were left in and only spoilers were run. The cars worked fine..were all the same, and it was cool. In an attempt to move into what was then "ROAR" territory in the late 80's, when NORRCA held their Nat's back east, they changed that rule to satisfy the east coast racers. It took several of us a long time to adapt to WINGED cars w/ no back ends, but I can tell you...they DO hook up better on asphalt. (But they sure don't look as pretty) SHAKY DAVE 04-19-2006, 05:06 PM Hey Joe.that Was Before Narrow Cars.dident Need A Wing With 8" Of Lexan Spoiler Sticking Up 3" vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
