once i save up, i want to upgrade to a better radio. what should i get? i'm thinking of somthing in the $200-$250 range.

a used m8 or m11 is a good radio

I just got a spectrum dx2. the bueaty of spectrum is that you have 70 channels to work with and the radio automaticly sets its self to an open channel. also it works of the 2.4ghz band insead of the 75 or 27 mhz band. (no more car generated glitching) So like I said I would recomend a spectrum radio. the DX3 is a great unit and if you buy it right now you get a second recever for free!!

I agree on M8 or M11. A lot of good M8's for sale from people upgrading. I have been a Futaba person for years, then I got an M8. The M8/M11 with a spektrum is the way to go. You can always get an M8/M11 and upgrade to a spektrum.

When buying a high end radio you really need to hold one before you buy to see how it feels. The M8 is a great radio but the handle was too small for me. I used a JR 756 for years because it felt right. When the JR R-1 came out I held one and it felt terrible, like i was holding a pencil in my hand. The current JR Z-1. while not quite as big as a 756 has a few add on pads and feels comfortable.

i myself have got a ex-1 mars version r I got it for 150 dollors with two 301 recievers, it is now outdated becasue of the ex-10 helios, but heck is it still an good radio.... but then there is specktrum which is a good investment but it is all in what you want,
