ok, i recently got my hands on a 1 seater kart. i took off the old 3hp engine that had no more life in it and switched it for a 5.5hp intek i/c 206. the problem with this intek block is i was told these types of engines dont have the throttle return spring needed for go cart throttle operation or something like that. if this is true what can i do about this little problem, and is there anything else i should know before i start my mission.

p.s. (and just for a little history on the intek engine, the engine came off of a air compressor setup.)
thanks for yalls support

Did the intek have a throttle cable, basically what you find on a mower?

no it doesnt. it just has like a little turtle and rabbit switch on the side of the engine for throttle. it doesnt have that mower like cable thing.

With some creative "rigging" you would be able to get that swithched to a cable set-up, but you don't want to use duct-tape, cuz when your flying around like a chicken with it's head cut off, the last thing you what to happen is for the throttle to stick, or disencombobulate.

Lets say you get this cable hooked up, when you hit the gas, the cable will pull it all the way up in a relativly short distance, would be a problem. You would have to adjust it so that when you push on the gas pedal only a little bit, the throttle won't open all the way up.

Yeah, you might be able to route a cable from the butterfly, to the gas pedal. Have a spring on the gas pedal to return it.
