View Full Version : Great Starsky & Hutch episodes
John P 03-28-2006, 10:48 AM It can happen!
I'm watching season three right now, and despite the inauspicious start with the luridly-titled two-parter "Murder on Voodoo Island," the season is ghigging along nicely.
I just watched one I remember vividly from the first run - Karen Valentine costars as a chick who falls for Hutch, and starts stalking him. This was a major turn for Karen, who always played the "cute girl" or the "sweet girl." Here she was a stone psycho bitch from hell who tries to trash Hutch's life when he tries to break it off with her. Great counter-casting! In another casting against type, 70s hot momma Roz Kelly also costarred as a lady cop with a heart of gold. Didn't stop her from wearing hot pants, thank god.
terryr 03-28-2006, 04:06 PM Great Starsky & Hutch episodes? Isn't that an oxymoron?
I heard that 'Elle May Clampett' turned up as a prostitute in one episode.
GLU Sniffah 03-29-2006, 12:12 AM Did someone say 'Huggy Bear'? :D
jheilman 03-29-2006, 01:50 AM Wow, I haven't seen those since the original run. I was a big fan at the time. It was far grittier than anything else and risky for a 70's cop show. Maybe Police Woman came close. They were no Reed and Malloy for sure. BTW, when's season 2 of Adam-12 coming out?

John P 03-29-2006, 08:47 AM ^I've already got a 1/18 die cast, a 1/43 (maybe 1/32?) die cast with figures, and a 1/64 die cast.
John P 03-29-2006, 08:48 AM It's funny, we all thought that Torino was the coolest car since the Mach 5 and the Batmobile, but Paul Michael Glazer hated it. He said it was too heavy, underpowered, drove like crap, and he tried his best to wreck it whenever the script let him do something stupid

JP,
What you've printed is sacrilege. If Karen Valentine stalked Hutch, it's only because he deserved it! Hutch was always the "love 'em & leave 'em" type. He was such a jerk. Can't even drive a car without smashing it up every other week! Next thing you'll try and tell me is that Judy Strangis is a "bad girl." Better not let Gee Jay hear you say that!
lisfan 03-29-2006, 05:18 PM karen valentine was quite a hottie!!!!!!!!!
time for a cold shower lol
John P 03-30-2006, 08:53 AM Actually, Hutch wasn't such a frequent car-smasher. I think you're thinking of the later TV cop show "Hunter" starring Fred Dryer, wherin Ford seemed to dump most of the LA-area dealer trade-ins. Although Hutch did drive off the occasional California canyon road and survive only by the luck of being found by a crazy homeless guy wandering in the wilderness.

Hunter, Starsky, and Hutch were all grannie-driving wussies compared to Jim Rockford, who averaged 3-4 car chases per episode and never dinged up his gold Firebird.
lonfan 03-30-2006, 10:50 AM Hey John, Which Ep. has the Boys recciving a Death Threat in the Form of a Skull in a Locker that has a Recording attached that sez' "DIE SATURDAY NIGHT!,DIE SATURDAY NIGHT!" does this sound Familiar? I only recall that incident from Years and Years ago.

This reminds me of the time affable smilin' Henry Jones was stalking Henry Fonda and kids on "The Smith Family" (the afficionados may recall "Cindy" from that show as the adolescent younger sister in "The Impossible Years"(1968)).
And the time that John-Boy psyched out Patty Duke in "You'll LIke My Mother"(1972).

Ohhh, I definitely remember Cindy.

Hey, Rockford can't hold a candle to Michael Knight. The whole show was geared towards having the car chase someone. What other reason would make anyone tune in?
Oh yeah, her...

John P 03-31-2006, 08:50 AM Hell, Michael Knight never chased anybody, KITT did it for him!
The most skilled was obviously Hannibal Smith, who could perform exotic automobile acrobatics one-handed while lighting a cigar.
(FACE: "You want me to light that for you?"
HANNIBAL: "Nah, I got it."
SKRREEEE VROOOOM!)
El Gato 03-31-2006, 10:17 PM Well, he did love it when a plan came together...
