David Butts 03-27-2006, 08:15 PM Arrrrrrrrrrrr ya ready to rumble? Only a couple of weeks to go and I'm trembling. Or maybe it's just shivvering me timbers? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
RCThunder 03-27-2006, 08:24 PM 'the track everyone loves to hate'
'the track that's too tough to tame'
The series starts on the roughest and smallest track on the circuit. Should be interesting. Then it moves to the high speed Jax track. Nascar reversed. It used to be Daytona then Richmond.
rcgen 03-27-2006, 11:00 PM How early can I get to the track on Friday? Cost for brushless and stock? Is power available or bring the genny? Haven't made plans to attend since most of the races I planned to raced this year, something came up with work or the kids karate tournaments. So far that Saturday looks very good so far.
katf1sh 03-27-2006, 11:40 PM cost is the same at every focar event 25 1st class 15 for the 2nd and each class you enter after that.
there is power at mtr
11 am track opens on friday
RCThunder 03-28-2006, 10:10 AM Looking forward to it!!
amusicwiz 04-07-2006, 07:47 AM The South Florida pack is really looking forward to racing at MTR and in the FOCARS series.
Can anyone post the track length? (A little help)
See ya "Good Friday"
Bob
RCThunder 04-07-2006, 09:30 AM Sounds like a HUGE crowd coming to the opening day of the series!
Remember MTR is not your typical racetrack. We have been getting around 40 cars a week and have unbelievable competitive racing. The 'ol track is a little rough. But man it is fun!!!!!! It is the Martinsville of RC:

rcgen 04-07-2006, 10:15 AM How long of an extension cord will I need to hook up? I have a small and very quiet generator that I might bring. Will that be ok? Don't know if you guys have a noise problems from the other users of the park.
RCThunder 04-07-2006, 10:32 AM There is no problem with noise so you will be ok. If you want to use the picnic area's power then it all depends where you want to pit. If you pit trackside you will only need a short cord. So either a 100 or 20 footer. It will be great gathering of oval racers for sure!! Thank goodness we are in a dry spell too!

I dont like getting beat by girls. Old guys and average racers are ok but you have to draw the line somewhere.
I see where she's been whipping up on some of the guys down there. Good for her. We have a few that are racing up here too.

Darkside Motorsports is also proud to be a sponsor of the 2006 FOCAR series.

JPH Racing 04-15-2006, 06:07 PM I agree Eric, we need a full list of sponsors posted soon ... JPHRacing.com/Maverick Oval Chassis are also proud to be sponsoring this great Florida Series! :)
rcgen 04-16-2006, 12:07 AM My first FOCAR race and came out pretty good for both my races. Not bad for driving 4 hours to play with my little toy cars with you guys. Enjoyed the whole day of racing and had fun at the little track. It was a blast to racing the you all. I only wished there was enough drivers for the breakout class so my son Aren could have raced. Oh well maybe next time.
Sometimes we all take things for granted and don't know what we have here in Florida. I just want to personally thank the FOCAR series for getting oval drivers together in one place, Scarecrow as always excellant job and running a tight show, Katf1sh for the whole series and all the background work for making the first race great, Mike Boylan and MTR for having us come and play, the sponsors of the series and the racers who share a common interest in these little toy cars.
Eugene
David Butts 04-16-2006, 09:00 AM What a race!, I dont believe anyone(I didn't)expected 84 entries on the 1st race of the year. That is huge by large. We had 50 lastyear if I remember correctly, On the ride home lastnight we came up with about 15 or 20 names that weren't there from MTR and other tracks so I now actually think we're gonna top 100 at several of the races.
The track thats too tough to tame? I dont think so, There were tons of guys who had it figured out but for one reason or another just didnt put the laps together for a higher starting position.
The new classes, 4300 and Sprint car looked to be a hit and I bet right now there are people thinking about getting one or the other to run as an additional class.
I'm looking forward to a race recap/results and specially the pictures. Unlike many, I love that stuff. Every race should have a parade of cars and a group picture of the drivers. It should be mandatory.
Oh and about those bunny ears? If there is ever a R/C racers hall of fame, Those deserve a place in it. Those took the cake for the BQ helmet/hat,:jest:

That link is misleading at first, It actually shows the qualifying results. You have to click the results button for individual race to see the actual main results.
Good job to everyone involved in making this race awesome, From the racers to the promoters and even all the way down to the hotdog guy. 1st class all the way.
cneyedog 04-16-2006, 01:34 PM I had a good time at the first FOCAR race @ MTR. But then racing is alot more fun when ya get the car working...... . There were 7 or 8 cars with 60+ Laps to qualify in the A main for 1/10th pro 19T.... ...
The setup for MTR is different then you would run most likely anywhere else in the state for sure, but once you get the hang of it, its cool..... bumps and all .. its the same for everyone ya just gotta adapt to it.
Thanks to MTR for hosting the first race, Kenny for a great job, and Katfish for doing the series. 84 entries at the first race!!! .... must be doing something right.
Congrats to all the winners and everyone for making it a fun day of racing.........
cya, all at Jacksonville for the "monster mile"
Rich
amusicwiz 04-17-2006, 11:13 AM Thanks to everyone involved for putting on a great race as the first of the FOCAR season. The South Florida boys look forward to being a part of the series this year. Took all day for us to get hooked up but had a good time racing nonetheless! JAX here we come!
