tamiya_kid_ta04 03-22-2006, 04:31 PM should i get this buggy for 170, worth it or not??? http://cgi.ebay.com/2-SPD-BUGGY-OFF-ROAD-NITRO-GAS-NITRO-REMOTE-CONTROL-CAR_W0QQitemZ6044024960QQcategoryZ19168QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem
rctazmanmc 03-22-2006, 06:47 PM Buy names you know and can trust.
Cheap over seas knock offs trying to cash in on the rc craze.
I would avoid it unless you want the problem of breaking a part and not having anywhere to get a new one.
Just my 2 cents.

tamiya_kid_ta04 03-22-2006, 08:20 PM a guy on ebay carries all the parts and hes in the us
MaxxJato 03-22-2006, 11:42 PM did you notice the monster trucks he had for sale look just like the t-maxx, same arms transmission and such? pretty weird if ya ask me, wouldnt trust them.
MaxxJato 03-22-2006, 11:45 PM it's almost as if they just bought rolling chassis' from traxxas and add there own motor and electrics... i mean do you belive for a second that the buggy really goes between 55 and 65 mph? or the boat he has listed... the listing says the boat goes between 55 and 65 mph... gimme a break.
bigbadstu 03-23-2006, 11:50 AM and hand grenades. These Chinese knockoffs last about as long as a hand grenade before they blow up, and when they do, the seller always says "T-Maxx parts bolt right on" and they don't.
I see one of these things every couple of weeks here at the LHS, usually the same ones that get pawned off from one unlucky sod to the next, and each guy swears that Maxx parts bolt right on.
I don't care how cheap you can get it. Avoid these clones like the plague that they are.
My $.02 as an LHS professional.
OvalmanPA 03-23-2006, 07:15 PM Didn't look at the auction but it sounds like the same thing that happened with Yamaha and Yamoto. Clones......

tamiya_kid_ta04 03-24-2006, 09:58 PM you shouldent say something stinks if you have no experiance with it, i mean if you dont know about a certain thing dosent mean it nessairly sucks, my cousin has the same one it flys handles great and cant beat it for the price, so if you havent seen/had one be keep quiet.
bigbadstu 03-25-2006, 09:01 PM I've seen dozens of them. All are copies of better cars. All are going to be a headache when the importer goes out of business in six months or decides he can make more money selling designer-knockoff purses and leaves you with an orphan car that nobody within 10 times zones of here carries parts for.
You want to save a few bucks, go for it. Enjoy. But don't say I didn't warn you. And be prepared to put it on the shelf for good when you rip the cord out of the recoil starter.
tamiya_kid_ta04 03-25-2006, 09:07 PM i know, but im talking about smartech buggys, i like them, ive driven 3, they run great :) no problems, i admit some parts are brittle, but i plan on modifiying it to except ofna parts.
bigbadstu 03-25-2006, 09:16 PM If you want an OFNA, buy an OFNA. It's not like they're all that expensive, and while I'm not a big fan, they're a whole lot better than Smartech.
In a year, your Smarty's going to be half OFNA anyway, so why not start with the real thing? That way you know where all the parts came from and you're not constantly chasing your tail trying to keep the thing together.
I know a thing or three about Frankenstein RC. There's good, bad and ugly. This doesn't sound good to me.
I don't think i'd risk it. Looks kinda cheep.
