My mom was going to eventually throw these cars out. She had bought some plastic 1/64 cars (HotWheels) to replace them and says the kids are more fascinated with the brightly colored, lightweight ones. I went over to her house to reclaim my childhood toys. Of course, the paint job are pretty much worn. These cars were played by three generations of children and lasted through years of rough play. I just didn't want Mom to toss them out.

Most of these toys are 30+ years old. Mom remembers some of them were acquired before I was born (I'm 39 now), so a few probably are 40+. They are stored in a 35 year old metal lunchbox. Only three of these toys are missing some parts. [A red Hotwheels sports car with broken window dome, missing an engine, and three wheels gone. A purple Tootsietoy jeeptruck (located behind the red sports car) lost the front wheels. The orange Mercedes Matchbox coach bus lost it's top.]

From looking at them, most were made by Tootsietoys based out of Chicago. A few were "Matchbox" series - Lesney, England. One car has "Midgetoy" stamped on the bottom. A couple did not have any words on the bottom, but I suspect they are Tootsietoys too.

I included a quarter coin in the picture for size reference.

If any of you are interested and want a close up picture of a certain diecast, let me know. If you have a desire for some of them, make an offer.

Right now, my interest is with customizing the 1/18 scale cars. I might someday consider restoring the small diecasts back to their original colors. Any one know the value of these toys?

Thanks,

- Ceicei

Cant say much about the value, They sure looked like they have been
'well loved' though.
I particularly like the orange Pick-up truck pulling the green tandem axle trailer.
Thats cool.
