I am looking into buying a new speed controller, I have my eye on the g11pro and found it as low as 129 bucks while the others are pushing 150, I am not so much as worried about the price but I realy want the best speed controller right now, what can you tell me that would make up my mind? spec wise, use durabilty, how has it been in the racing seen on a weekly bassis? have they blown up -not including misuse from users. thanks in advance.

make sure you get the g11pro, and not the g11, The only problem i have seen and heard of, is the BEC getting hot, This is mostly because of Digital servos, i have not seen this happen in cars that are not running the digital servo.

If you have a digital servo, the problem you will run into is the car will just Shut off then start going agian, this is due to the heat in the BEC because of the servo pulling to many amps, There are 2 easy fix's

1: Run a reciever pack to your servo,
2: Use the little red wire running out of the Speed control, ( this wire will eliminate the BEC and run your servo directly off the battery) to do this you need to pull the RED on the servo out of the Reciever and solder it directly to the little red wire on the Speed Control

A quick comparision:

Keyence- 24 (Fet's)
Tekin- 20 (Fet's)
Q-2 - 16 (Fet's)
GtX - 8 (Fet's)

As far as the other spec's They are very similar,

Novak's you have to run a Cap. Which some people don't like,

You don't have to run a CAP with the GTX. I know Frank Peachock and a few other guys don't.

That'd be great if Tekin is coming out with a brushless ESC. Hopefully it'll be smaller than the Novak GTB.

Omnis...three of our top 19turn cars and a stock car at Classic Hobbies shut down in the middle of the run once heat built up in the tekin speed speed controls, all running the g11pro.I would use caution when running this speed control.

I spoke with Jim for an hour or so, It is a Known problem, It seems to really only happen on Banked tracks, due to the fact that it takes alot more from the servo,

Mike-it was the strangest thing. The servo still worked but the speed control shut off power to the motor. They would pull the car in the infield and let it cool...than turn it back on and it was off and running again.

I was sponsored by the original Kevin Orton Tekin regime in the glory days. Am I grandfathered??? :) I still have one of the original Q-10 prototype's (the name for the G-9 supersonic early on). It has been in dirt trucks ,sedans, and oval cars since the late ninety's and it still runs strong, I wouldnt hesitate to race with it now!

I also have another G-9 that burned up,(my fault), would it be possible to get this unit repaired??? Thanks.

last friday..Steve and i...raced for the first time our new g11 pro's at our home track... www.grcsr.com ....those are sweet and fast...we re-edited the lap time and 5 min race track record...1st time out...no problem as far as shutting off...but the problem is already known...and not only on tekin's...if it occured...it is most likely the low voltage that is left for the esc...while using a digital sevo on a high bite condition track....simply use the external red wire that goes out of the esc and plug it to the red wire that goes to the servo(after removing it from the receiver plug...this way...voltage is move directly to the sevos...and more voltage is kept for the esc to operate smoothly...of course...a receiver pack is a quick solution also...remember to leave the esc switch to off...if using a reciever pack...

Ken,
Don't do it man. Everything that I ever owned made by Tekin either burned out or burned up my batteries. Ask Charlie about the the Fire at K&N that I nearly started. The charger (BC112) roasted my batteries till they caught on fire. My Tekin speedo went back to Tekin 3 times to be repaired. Novak, LRP, Keyance, etc etc. there's a reason why "most" guys run them. I'm sure some factory guy is going write in and tell us otherwise, but they get them for free. Was good seeing you yesterday.

rick maybe you need to by life insurance or stay away from electronics this is the new tekin with a state of the art facility and equipment sorry you had problems in the past but most of the problems with equipment come from not carefully using them like maybe putting the lockout mode on by accident? again sorry for the problems.

Rick I hear what your saying but I am looking for the best of the best. I have herd and seen great things about the G11 pro and the next step looks to be the keyeance but I dont feel like spending over 200. I know several people with the g11pro and have had no problems so far.fast and slow guys. I am not so sure about the gtx because I have seen lap times drop off by tenths of a second and then dropped in a Q2 the next heat and was right back to normal again and the gtx was brand new. I am researching everything before I buy. Thats the best thing about this forum-just need to weed through the plugs. I like to see facts, no BS. I realize things go wrong with speedos even with the most expensive ones, burn up or fets go bad whatever the case is.Thanks

Here's a fact ... the G11PRO is 1/8 ounce lighter than a Keyence ... it's not alot, but considering I thought it looked heavier and finding out that it was actually lighter was a nice surpise!

omnis..Steve and i are indeed sponsered by Tekin...but...we made the choice from Keyence..to Tekin... because we really felt they would give us an edge...otherwise we would have stayed with what we had...let me tell you...after a week of using those...we're already smiling on how easy there to setup...and how incredibly smooth they feel....performance wise...awesome...we both recorded the fastest lap turned at our track last friday...those are simply great

I remember you guys from the sos race at maximus and if I am not mistaken, from what I saw I will take your word even if you werent running for tekin at the time. At your level you look for the best. We talked about that for sometime after the race. I had a blast there the entire summer-I was the guy heath decided to put on the spot for most improved driver over the summer at the drivers meeting-I still have the gift certificate-I dont think I will ever use it because it means more to me than the dollar amount.-I will never forget that. That is something rare these days when it comes to owner/director.Thanks for the info.

i think that for somereason your speed control is not getting radio signal? Do you have any throttle at all, I know on the G11's if you get a flasshing red light and nothing happen's that is what it means
