Don't worry, I'm sure someone is working on that idea already. If they're making one based on the tv show Welcome Back Kotter, it can't be too far off before they bring Speed Racer to the big screen. ;) rr

That Mach 5 was at The 2000 Chicago Auto Show: It was based on a C5 Corvette.

Yeah, ever since Speed retired after crashing while racing against the car acrobatic team with Chim Chim and Spridle in the trunk, these replicas have started popping up every where. Pops is attempting to sue people who are ripping off the "fastest racer in the world". I believe that he and Trixie are building a class action suit against Lenny. Fortunately, Lenny did not try to rip off the traction belts that mysteriously wrap around the tires when the letter "B" is pressed on the steering wheel. Pops has a pretty solid patent on that concept.

My thoughts exactly. Creativity has hit an all-time low in Hollywood. Finding an original thought in Hollywood is harder than finding Osama Bin Laden. Without exception, all of these moronic rehashes of TV shows in movie format are train wrecks from the get go.

"Carloco" (Stallone and Shwartzenegger) purchased the rights to do a Live Action Speed Racer . They paid 10 million for the rights. The script was finished and even hired a casting agency and cast the parts. After the failure of Cliffhanger and Last Action hero, nothing became of it and so their licenses have expired.
Too bad. I would have enjoyed it.
