I have been playing with this system in a prototype vehicle.
Has anyone experience the Motor shaft breaking off between the pinion and the motor?
I had it happen to me.
no dan i just think you are the lucky one....i know you had some gear mesh problems in the past. do you think it is possible that the gears meshed together hard enough to put a serious side load on the shaft? i have mine back in the revolt now so hopefully i wont have any problems with it. i ran it with almost dumped batteries and it just ripped. i hope i wont need a wheelie bar just to race......

Gary,
I checked the mesh and it was fine. I just think it is too much torque even though the vehicle I have it in is lighter than the Emaxx. I will probably have to design a slipper for it. Or go to a different brusless system with a larger shaft on it.
Steve broke his too in the same kind of vehicle.

Shaft snapping or breaking off. Novak BL has a 1/8mm shaft on their BL Motor. Not surprise sometimes it just happens. I don't run a Novak system But On my ride I make sure I run a 5mm shaft on my BL motor. It's nothing to do with the gear mesh. BL systems are powerful and if the BL motor shaft is not thick (SNAP-OO!!) no more shaft.
Especially if your driving offroad jumps, landings, crashes ect.... The only systems I know that have a thicker shaft are the Feiago,Hacker,BK Wanderer, and Lehner.
Go to www.rc-monster.com Great selections........
