When clear coatin' the car, is it better to only clear coat the body 'o the car an the base, if a shine is want'd on the base, or can the entire car be done after assembly windshield an plastic includ'd?
Or does it depend on the result want'd, or does the clear coat on the plastic part's, windshield's mess it up?

I would clear the base and body seperate.

You want to clear coat the body seperately from the chassis Dude. Also remove all items that need not be clear coated such as chrome, glass, wheels and interior parts, unless of course you have gone ahead and painted said items.

Does clear coat o'er the window's make it look blurry or anytin' like that, or can window's be clear'd?

Tank's for the answer's guy's, I've got one gettin' close to bein' done an want'd to try for a real nice shine an wasn't sure which way would be best

I think if you cleared it assembled, the joints where the glass meets the frame/car would look crappy with a buildup of clear in there.

That does sound quite logical, thank's for pointin' that out an gettin' me to tink 'bout that.

I haven't tried it but that's what my past experiences with clear coat lead me to believe. Somebody else with more experience will chime in I'm sure though.

Dude502..If you clearcoat the windows...They will completely fog, it's a reaction to the thinner within the paint, the plastic can't take the fumes of the thinner..I would not clearcoat the windows,interiors,wheels/tires, and if you do the base make sure it is either polished to a chrome like shine or painted with an even coat..Any built up areas just might wrinkle.

OK. Clear coating windows isn't recomended. BUT The hard plastic, like styrene will take the Krylon Triple Glaze. It fogs initially, but dries clear. The soft stuff will kraze. This is from experience. Good and bad. The best thing is to clearcoat just the body if you can. Why risk it?

One FYI: I did a MB Mustang Concept when they first came out and turned it into an '05 Mustang  ....I couldn't get an '05 Mustang then. I clearcoated the whole car. The windshield and roof were smoked, transparent, soft, plastic and made together. Krazed like and orange :freak: . In a panic and not being able to hurt it any more than I already had; I cut two pieces of transparent shipping tape. I pressed them onto the krazed windows. The reaction between the still wet clearcoat and the glue sealed the krazing! I can actually see into the windshield to the interior! Granted this ain't what you want to do. And I don't know how long it will last. But its good to know.

An 'gain tank's. The more info an tip's an experianc'd situation's the better. It's better to hear 'o another's mistake's an how to avoid them than to make them o'er an o'er.
