I bought this taxi that looks pretty nice, along with four others: 2006 dune buggy, off-white Scion xB, orange Zentner GMC wrecker, and the new plow. This store seemed rather well-stocked with new Matchies.

I was in WM today and managed to see a box high up on a top shelf full of the cars/trucks you found. I went through the entire box. There was several of most of those cars/trucks, but only one of that new green taxi in the box. It was the only thing I bought. Just curious, anyone know if it is a chase piece? The taxi fits in nicely with my 1:64 taxi collection.

i too have that taxi and love the livery of it in the green/white and was curious if it was anything special or just new?

As far as I know, it's just the regular 06 release. Otherwise, I probably would have never encountered it for sale on the pegs.

It is just a 1-75 series regular issue casting. The London Taxi #69 in the NSF Series is the chase vehicle with two different rims and tires. One has a whitewall rubber (vinyl) tire and the other is a blackwall retro rim as I remeber. It also comes in another color, Black/White with the same wheel and tires combos. One catch, these are only released outside of the USA.

In case you're into variations, there are two wheels for the beetle. One is the lace type, the other is the chrome disc similar to the one on the '56 Ford pickup. Also, there are 3 wheel variations on the ford Lightning pickup.

Mine has the chrome disc wheels. Never saw a second red beetle yet. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup:

Found another of red beetles with the disc wheels. Also found the white Ford Lightning with white wheels and some off colored grey wheels. How many variations are there for the Lightning? Bought the 56 Ford P/U as well. I really like the 56 :thumbsup:

Amazingly enough I was able to find all 3 Lightining wheel varis.

hmm maybe diff stores get diff wheels. WM is swarmed by collectors so they get the ones collectors want, and since kids go to TRU, they get the crappy wheels IMO.
