Hey All...

I got the dates for the 2006 Summer Season at the Velo!!

Here are the dates/times:
Sat., May 13th 8:00am - 5:00pm
Sun., June 4th 8:00am - 5:00pm
Sat., July 15th 8:00am - 5:00pm
...and the 2006 Nats...
Sat., August 19th 8:00am - 11:00pm (4 heats)
Sun., August 20th 8:00am - 6:00pm (1 final heat and main)

More info to come, including flyer, costs, pit rental, etc...

We are hoping to draw more out of town racers than normal, in hopes that, if racers stay the entire week here in the midwest... traveling to TN for the ROAR Paved Oval Nats (Aug. 12th weekend), then head to Indy for the Velo Nats... sounds like an awesome week of racing to me!! The only down fall... the Friday (Aug. 18th) WILL NOT be available for r/c use... the track is booked and not open to r/c racing.

There is talk about a brushless class... just not sure if only the 4300 system will be used. Also, not sure if guys want to use Spec 4Cell packs or 3800's with the brushless?? I was talking with Bob Cordell (Hobbytown) and Dale Monroe (Summit) after the State Race #4 about next years State races having a brushless class(es). All I can hope for is guys saying they want to run the class and show up for racing... also, that would help "mold" the class for next years State Series. All I keep hearing about around here is the 4300 motor and buying a Sphere to run with it. Since I do not know a thing about these brushless motors, other than theory, I otherwise don't have a clue. We currently have a good base of racers in 6Cell Stock Indycar and 4Cell 19-Turn... I was thinking about putting the idea of 6Cell Stock NASTRUCK up for vote, of making it brushless, in hopes of growing the class without hurting the other classes. Example 6Cell & 4Cell Busch Grand National (Spec). However, guys are talking about wanting to have a Spec Brushless class also??!! Seems like more and more the brushless classes are coming our way, especially with motor zapping and timing issues. The classes you are running are comparable to the 4300?? It is the 4300?? Please forgive me, I have been talking with Bob Cordell and others... getting more and more info... someday I may get the numbers right??!! LOL

See ya at the Track...

Good deal, thanks. We have been talking about the brushless systems with people locally, and out west. Seems like alot of people want to go 4Cell Brushless with the 4300 motor... but with the 4Cell Busch class taking off... and with the possiblity of 2200mHA Spec packs... looks like the Velo will have two classes possibly with the brushless system, both a 4Cell Spec and a 4Cell 3800 (or what ever the battery on the month is...3700, 3800... 4200??) Not sure if these 2200's are even out there, when or what... there is talk, but will have to wait and see what come around next week, then let the guys vote on it.

See ya at the Track...

...if you guys are travelling to the WEST COAST at all, we've got 4 velo races in '06.

March 18th
July 22-23 (California State Velodrome Championships)
Oct 14th
Dec 9th (Winterfest @ the 'Drome)

Sounds like we might have 4-5 guys making the trip the the VELO Nat's in INDY...

Oh and for something different...

The Southwest Paved Oval Championships in Vega$ (Boulder City R/C Speedway) will be May 20-21. This isn't a VELODROME, but it's a Asphalt track in excess of 500 ft. runline and Very Fast.

Hey BC, I have been reading more and more about the brushless stuff... starting to make a little sense, not much though... can someone please direct me to and/or post the different motors/esc's and what guys are thinking about running? Example... 4300 motor is equal to 19-Turn, but ESC can be Novak or LRP? As you can see I am still a bit lost... HELP!! LOL 5800 is like a Mod... but it can be in sportsman mode? which is equal to?? Thanks for the knowledge.

Monti tells me the 4300 is a little faster than stock. Yoke ran one against 19t last week and was 2 laps off the pace. 5800 is a little faster than 19t. That's why I think the 4300 would be a good one to sooner or later replace anything "stock".

Kevin... so far it looks like it New Castle but maybe The Summit this Saturday nite.. I've been invited to South Bend for their big race at the car show so who knows where I will be going.. rather go to Race St.. so stay tune.. The Dr.

Sonny B

Greg the 4300 is 19T speed. Not even close to stock. 5800 is slightly quicker. Maybe about 2 laps in a 4 minute run at a track like New Castle. The 4.5 and 5.5 are the mod motors. Right now in mod they are about a lap and half off the brushed motor. On a larger track this gap will narrow.

Speedo any LRP or Novak will work fine. Pluses and minus to both in terms of size and weight but no real performance advantage between brands.

Changing timing does not seem to make any speed difference also I think most of us have decided that the upgrade rotor kit available with larger bearing does not show any performance gain over the stock set-up.

If you have more questions drop me an e-mail sbrown15@insightbb.com.

Smoke::: it would be great if they did but it won't happen..too many people think they are too slow out there.. but man, was it competitive..but with problems with the Spec motor rules lately and the ordeal what has happen with the Legend cars, may have to bring some other stuff out and play.. everybody is talking about going with the brushless system and I'm not quite sold on it yet, so maybe just maybe 6 cell stock Nascar will return and trucks may be just a return away.... but then again I could be all wrong and run just Indycar and some Nastruck and a little (yuck) 19T.. but no more Busch!!!

Hey BOB,

Pack your bags in July and come WEST for our 2 day Summer Sizzler/Velodrome State Championships race in Encino.

We had 50+ entries last weekend with ...again a threat of rain (we got only SPRINKLES this year) It was a great day of VELO racing...that saw over 1/2 dozen BRAND NEW Velo racers take to the high banks.

We are also running in October and December *weather permitting.

We didn't have any INDY cars last weekend, but I know DONN, BRAD and a few other guys still have thier cars and would run them if you guys came out again~

what tires should be used? strikers, parks, caps for pan cars?

huffrcman
03-23-2006, 07:01 PM
I think Strikers would be good to use.Considering touring cars ran there a couple of years ago and averaged over 60 mph.I'm sure a truck with a modified in it could go that fast.
