Are the cleaners that you download from differerant sights safe and reliable.

Registry Medic is a fine application for this kind of work. But using this kind of utility can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. So if you do get this, please read the help documents and support pages before you start using it.
Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't.
Iomatic's Registry medic (http://www.iomatic.com/products/product.asp?ProductID=registrymedic)

Stuff I like to reccomend to clients I have:
Firefox, anything from Mozilla, Thunderbird ect.
Reg Mechanic
AVG
Ad-Aware

These keep you virus free. TO be quite honest with you, the only anti-spyware/virus I have installed, if you could even call it that, is Firefox. This goes for my desktop as well as my laptop, which is on a college wireless network every day. Firefox is one of the safest browsers out there....Opera is also comparable to it, but I like the amount of extensions and such for Firefox.

The one that is the most effective one piece of software out there is panda. It(panda) has a spyware and antivirus built in.Use panda once your system is loaded with crap then remove and install avg.It is very critical to have sp#2 with all updates when using you computer on the net. We(my company) take a average of 10 pc's a day for spyare/viruses.Now avg is great, but I uninstall panda once the cleanup is done and install avg.The only main problem with panda, norton, mcafee etc is system resources is uses.Hijack this is also a good program to edit startup crap from toolbars, spyware, and other garbage downloads.Last but not least cleanup 4.0 is a great tool for cleaning temps normall y not clean probally through our conventional methods.Do a search for it its free.

Try crap cleaner it's great. In your search engine search for ccleaner and that will take you to a source. It's free and will clean the registry as well as cookies history etc but must be used twice to do so once to clean history etc and another to fix registry issues...........it lets you back up reg. first too
