Kenny B Track Director ROAR erock1331 03-04-2006, 10:18 AM Kenny So is the weight rule now 41oz for foams ? Billy W 03-12-2006, 01:30 AM YEah Eric.. it is... been using it at Sandhills the last few weeks.. BIlly TBRC1 08-11-2006, 11:55 PM 41 oz's ???????????????? why not reset it back to 42 oz's and give us back those 2 cells and return to 6 cell racing ???????? After all I have heard some racers who want to run sedan or dirt oval AND pan oval but don't since they would either be constantly re-assembling battery packs from 6 to 4 and back again. OR they would almost have to spend the $$$$$ to have one set of 6 cell packs for the one form of racing and one set for 4 cell pan oval. Just my thoughts and ovehearings from the field. swtour 08-24-2006, 12:50 AM 41 oz's ???????????????? why not reset it back to 42 oz's and give us back those 2 cells and return to 6 cell racing ???????? Using the reasoning for upping the weight...if you were running 6 cell, the weight would be close to 47-48 ozs. One of the 'benefits' cited way back when switching to 38oz and 4 cell was "Lighter Cars have LESS Tire Wear" So making the cars heavier now helps WHERE? I know the batteries are heavier...SO? If the guys want to SWISS CHEESE their cars into flimsy flexi pieces of JUNK...let them. As far as those who argue about building 4 cell to 6 cell packs and running both or 3 different types of racing...all I have to say is "Talk is CHEAP" If you WANT to do it...it takes less then 2 minutes to change a pack over. If you take 3 OVAL packs and make 2 6 cell packs or vice versa...it's simple. For the price of a battery pack (New...35-40 bucks for a 4 cell can be found ALL over the place), there should be NO problem if you don't want to modify a pack..then there are always GOOD USED PACKS for 15-20 bucks too. burbs 08-24-2006, 06:45 PM adding more weight will not slow down the guys who are currenty fast... It will however slow the new guys, or the struggling guys down even more so then before.. weight is a very very silly rule for slowing cars down.. you need to slow technology, or put restrictor plates in rc cars,, oh wait we have that its called stock..Stock motors become faster every year.. roar keeps aproving them.. keep them uniform from year to year.. TBRC1 08-24-2006, 06:58 PM As for those who don't want to switch thier batteries back and forth ....It's a thing called HEAT and it's not good for any battery pack. Every time you switch the pack from one setup to another it's another heating and cooling of the cells. Then on the other hand it's one more thing to do and in this day and age with everything a person has going on it's just one more thing to squeez into a day. I would rather just see all oval racing go back to 6 cell racing. Then I would be able to save $$$ on 6 cells for racing since I would only need one set for either car on any surface that oval is raced on. Just my thougths, opinions and observations. Fl Flash 08-24-2006, 07:14 PM you need to slow technology, or put restrictor plates in rc cars,, oh wait we have that its called stock..Stock motors become faster every year.. roar keeps aproving them.. keep them uniform from year to year.. Wow that makes sense! To bad its wasted on ROAR. losi888 08-24-2006, 08:01 PM I think the best thing that happened was a switch to 4 cell. It has made racing a lot cheaper for me. I would not be racing if it was 6 cell. If you were worried about speed run mod. I aggree if roar would stick with one stock motor through the year it would be better. There have been two new stock motors in 6 mounths. swtour 08-24-2006, 10:16 PM I for one...will NEVER race 6 cell OVAL again. I love the speed of 19t and Mod 4cell. I'm running as fast now as I did in the old 6 cell days. I run 6 cell in my TC's, actually I'm running old 3300 packs and they are still running competitive w/ the guys running 3800's and 4200's in STOCK (Which kinda shocked a couple people recently..cause the car was fast..and was accused of cheating with "illegal batteries". THEY SHUT UP when they saw the packs) burbs 08-25-2006, 01:02 PM I agree 6 cell was to much.. At our paved track, 365 asphalt, the mod record was like 41 laps for 6 cell.. I belive it was set in 96 or 200 cant remeber.. We had the 04 paved nats here, and the 4 cell mod record was 44 laps i belive.. 3 whole laps faster.. The problem is you can only stretch a cars limits so far.. 6 cell mod is pushing it.. eventually you get to a point where a car cant handle it.. FYI there is talk about touring cars going 4 or 5 cells right now to slow them down.. I had read in Japan they have already gone to 4 cell racing.. You will aways have someone saying they like the speed of 6 cell, and you will always have some saying they prefer 4 cell.. you cant please everyone.. These same people are saying they prefer 6 cell stock, wich is almost the same as 4 cell 19 turn.. Yet they wont switch classes and run 19 turn..why? I dont know.. With 4 cell, if you want to go faster just move ahead a class.. 17driver 08-25-2006, 01:12 PM Ifmar is looking at going to 4 cell for onroad and offroad. swtour 08-25-2006, 09:28 PM Mike Reedy was pushing for 4 cell OPEN MOD T/C a few years ago. Some thought he was trying to slow the cars down..for car control...truth be known, what I heard from a few insiders was...HARDLY anyone was running MODIFIED in TC, except FACTORY guys. This move would hopefully slow the cars down enough to gain the interest in MOD w/ regular weekend racers, thus increasing the sale of MOD MOTORS. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
