Quick question, I run on a carpet track that has a 180 ft. runline. What do I want my rollout to be? Thanks!

Hey dude, start somewhere around 2.10-2.20 and try from there. On Sunday I ran 2.22 and barely finished the race (overgeared).............

Thanks man. Right now, I'm running a 81/22 which is giving me a rollout of 2.13-ish (with the balloon-ish JACO's). Since I've gone down in tire size (what size are they? 2.15? I'll check when I get home), I'll need to increase my gearing correct? What about my motor, will it run hotter or the same? I'm wanting to switch to 64 pitch...

if you know what roll out you need www.ycityhobby.com has a roll out chart but it only help you find what pin. or the roll out you need to be at but for you track size you need to know what roll out you want to find

This should help you figure what rollout, it calculates the average motor rpm and associated rollout... It can be found at http://jimsmith.iwarp.com/RCDownLoads.html

There is also a neat looking program by Hank here: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?p=1332632#post1332632

In the spirit of Hank's program, I made a palm version which will allow a person to calculate the theoretical rollout as well as the number of laps with a given rollout. http://home.comcast.net/~cwinters15/rc/palm_software.html

Highroller, No problem. I do need an email since the hobbytalk mail screen does not do attachments :)

They are currently in Excel 95/97 format. If you need them to drop back further in versions just ask. :)

Email please :)

Chuckie baby, Yeah that will get you in the ballpark, kind of why I put the xls in post #7 here together. Figure out where your motor is best and gear around that...

Can any one just give me a formula? for roll-out

latemodel100

(Tire Size (dia)* Pi) / Gear Ratio = Rolllout

Jimbo, I guess either way you have to know how well your motor runs at some average RPM. BTW, I looked at your xls. Looks pretty cool.
