HI folks,i posted about the cars i got in the chassis cleaning thread.im considering letting the brown w/blacktop 69 gto body go.it is mint ,no scratches beutiful detail, and the other is the black w/white stripe porsche 906.got a few paint chips,,,normal playware but not cut or anything.reason being,i like to run my cars ,but the gto is really to nice of a piece to risk damaging it.can someone give me a fairly honest idea of what these 2 bodies are worth.
thanks
matt

I hate to always fall back on Fleabay for this stuff, but it actually gives a pretty accurate idea...

Notice the last one is damaged, which may account for the lower price.
I was under the impression that the brown one was harder to find, but the reference book I have (Bob Beers) says it's the most common version. However, I couldn't find an auction for one, so that's saying something...

Now, the same reference book says that the painted black Porsche is the RAREST of the Porsches. In general, the painted black Tjets are more desirable and seem to be made in lower numbers... some say they didn't sell as well because they weren't as easy to see against the black track. At any rate, I've seen painted black cars go significantly higher than "standard" molded colors...

hope this helps

I too was alway under the impression that the Brown GTO was desireable and hard to find, and yess the black paointed cars go for big buck usually.

thanks, now just to decide weather to sell or not, would it matter if the cars had their origional chassis or not,,i wouldnt think so as long as everything is correct such as wheels and rivet chassis or open rivet type.

The brown GTO with the black top is more common than the all brown GTO.And they are both harder to find than the other colors. Right,Mr. Beers?

Well, not exactly, according to the book, which I have in front of me...

The numbering system it uses goes from 0-5, with 0 being VERY rare and 5 being VERY common. In the book, all-brown and brown with black top are 4. Snow white and red are 3. "Regular" white and medium blue are 2. Butterscotch is 1. And the oddball, the brown with silver stripes, is 0. I've heard the brown/silver stripe one referred to as the "Canadian GTO" or something like that...

All that said, I seem to see red, white, blue, at shows, but not butterscotch or ANY of the brown variations. Another important point, I think, is that these ratings are within this body style. Overall, in the grand scheme of Tjets, ALL GTOs are pretty rare...

Put 'em up on E-Bay. You'll find out what they're worth. If you sell them for more than what you've got into them ... you win.

do they mean silver stripe as in hood stripe?the rocker pannels are painted silver along with the fender moldings on mine. i also noticed i couldnt find any numbers on the inside.,maybe i overlooked them.

No, these have silver stripes over the hood and trunk...

And the numbers I was referring to are rating numbers used in the book, not actually stamped on the car...
