View Full Version : RIP Dennis Weaver - It Always Comes in Threes python 02-27-2006, 01:39 PM Why is that? First Don Knotts, then Darren McGavin, now Dennis Weaver. iamweasel 02-27-2006, 02:16 PM Now we have lost McLoud? Man what a suck week. Just Plain Al 02-27-2006, 03:53 PM I first remember him in Gunsmoke, my Chester Goode impersonation used to drive my folks crazy. When I saw Duel I was blown away because the role was so different. He was truely an actor capable of many types of roles even though he was sort of typecast as the western/good ol' boy/smarter than he looks type (mostly due to McCloud, which I liked too). A memorable talent who will be missed. GLU Sniffah 02-27-2006, 03:59 PM I remember Weaver as R. J. Poteet, the trail boss who drove cattle from Texas up to the Venneford Ranch for Oliver Seccombe during the big drive of 1868 in the Centennial miniseries. End of the Trail for that ol' cowboy. RIP, Mr. Weaver. gruffydd 02-27-2006, 04:05 PM Unforgettable in Welles' "Touch of Evil". He could really put it out there! Zorro 02-27-2006, 04:08 PM I only recently rented some of the early seasons of "Gunsmoke" and got to see Weaver's delightful take on the Chester character for the first time. If you've never seen it, check out Weaver's extremely creepy performance as "The Night Man" in Orson Welles' "A Touch of Evil".* He was indeed a versatile and talented actor. *Posted while gruffy was posting. irishtrek 02-27-2006, 04:15 PM Why is that? Mentioned to my sister last night about groups of 3 and she said that if the third was elderly then there would be 3 more to pass away, and it looks to be true:Paul Carr. beck 02-27-2006, 04:20 PM i was wondering today if the rule of 3 would hold . drat ! we'll miss ya Chester . hb Scorpitat 02-27-2006, 06:20 PM All the greats are leaving us. I remember Dennis in the movie, "The Duel", where he was harassed across the desert, by a mysterious semi truck. Man that movie always kept me riveted! He was a great actor, and he will be greatly missed. Mosey off into the setting sun, McCloud, and rest in peace. Sincerely, Scorp. Lloyd Collins 02-27-2006, 08:07 PM Man, this too rough to handle! Three greats in a roll. To me Dennis Weaver will always be McCloud. I remember him as Chester, but McCloud, was always my favorite, of his roles. You noticed that all three were in their 80's.Not as long as Bob Hope, and George Burns, but still a good long life. bert model maker 02-27-2006, 11:28 PM Boy, we are losing all the great icons we new growing up. VicenzaHS 03-05-2006, 10:14 PM How about the TV series Gentle Ben, about a boy that owned a bear. Dennis Weaver played the father. Does anyone remember who the actor was that played the part of the boy. He was also in a StarTrek episode. Zorro 03-05-2006, 10:38 PM How about the TV series Gentle Ben, about a boy that owned a bear. Dennis Weaver played the father. Does anyone remember who the actor was that played the part of the boy. Zorro 03-06-2006, 11:23 AM Actually, Ron Howard casts his Clint, as well as their father, in almost every movie he directs. Yep.
