I think it is time to have a thread just for our friends that come to Mt. Pleasant to race.
The track has one of the largest/most consistent turn-outs of any track I have ever been to. And they only race once a month!

I'll be running 4300 for sure and probably 5800 too.

Talked with Jon today and he said that if we are going to have a season champion with the 5800 then we need to run it so it can be counted for the points. All's we need are 3 entries. Looks like we would have that even though Keith won't be here. Not sure if Deno will be running 4300 and/or 5800.

Guys,
I have copies of the video that was recorded from the Novak Brushless Challenge. It has of some of the action at the Brushless race at Allen's R/C raceway.
I could only get it to play on Windows Media Player. Which is on most computers. I didn't try to convert it to any other format yet.
I know it won't work in my DVD player hooked up to my TV. I was hoping for some widescreen R/C action! Didn't happen though.

It contains both the B Main and the Fast 5.

Those of you that star in these videos are; Raknok, RHK, Mr. Tanline, Zippy, Ernie and Kingley.

I can make extra copies for those interested if for some reason you cannot do so yourself. Until I run out of blanks.

peace out,
Scott

I lived it and do not want to see it again. Just if one of those guys would of made me cut the blue wire! I think hanging around with Greg and Chris S. has made me bullheaded. "Oh I don't need to cut it I have never shut down" I think is my exact words. The problem with the video it does not show the mad rush of all the rest cutting the blue wire, John making a ring out of it for good luck, Charlie doing Jamie's for him, someone gave a piece of theirs to Mike so he could take a picture of it and post what to do with it. So once again the students come out ahead. I just want all of the individuels that race at Mount Pleasant to know they are racing with the best there is!

Scott I made a DVD of these. Do you have a DVD burner?

You could try making them a SVCD. That format usally plays in most (but not all) home DVD players. Regular VCD also plays in most DVD units but the video quality is quite as good.

Scott you know me whatever it takes to make all my fellow racers better and better. But after this weekend distroy all copies before the race in April. Just a little warning for the school this weekend. They may need to take out the center post on the entrance doors. Some of these guys may not be able to get their heads through the door. I heard they had to stop on the way home and let some of the swelling go down so they could all fit in their vehicles. They were all a class act out there. What a great bunch of racer we have here in Michigan.

Wanted to give you guys a big thanks for all the good words and encouragement you gave my two girls (the buggy racers / full-time marshals) today. They had so much fun now that they finally raced their buggies. I have a feeling they won't go to sleep anytime soon tonight.

I also had fun, and was quite surprised that I made the A-Main on my first time out. Guess I need to learn all about "gearing" now. I went full-throttle the whole time, and I swear you other stock buggy guys eased up on the throttle in the corners just to tease me!

Good Morning Gentlemen.
I think new carpet is an awsome idea for the school. And you can count me in also for support.
Here's an idea.
I know many of you guys have helped to support other tracks that have had raffles to buy scoring systems. Is anybody interested in doing something like this for our carpet? We would not necessarily have to cover the entire cost with a raffle but it could help defray a good chunk of it. I may be able to take advantage of a couple of connections that would help with some raffle prizes. And "possibly" a connection in the floor covering industry. Have not seen him in a while though. But, I will try to work it out. I have talked to him in the past about ozite and at that time it was not a problem for him to get it. Although I don't know if it is comparable to CRC Fastrack.

Does anybody know what the "outside" dimensions of the MP track are? I think the infield is about 6' wide and the current carpet is about 10' wide. So, that would make 26' wide. I'm not sure of the length at all though.

I have done a little research/math and have learned the following:

2 - 100' rolls of CRC Fastrack for $1266 plus shipping [about $150].

3 - 80' rolls of CRC Fastrack for $1440 plus shipping [no quote yet on shipping 3 rolls].

My thoughts on track layout;
If we went with and can afford the 3 roll deal we may be able to lay each roll side by side starting at the edge of the stage toward the pit area.
I see at least 3 benefits here:
1 - no more spinning out in front of someone if you hit the linoleum between the stage and the track.
2 - you can pull into the infield without getting your tires dirty.
3 - only 3 rolls of carpet to deal with instead of the current 4 rolls - 2 longs and 2 shorts.

I hope I am being helpful here.

count me in i will do what every i can. good idea on the layout scott that keeps biting me every time i turn around. couldn't be my driving, naw how about a 50/50 drawing during the races to help pay for some of the bill. maybe the winner might even donate part of their winnings back to help. just a thought big al

50/50 is a great idea. It has been very successful with the local R/C airplane club I belong to.

Let's keep the ideas coming here.......

Roadsplat
03-13-2006, 08:11 PM
The one benefit with two rolls though would be less seams. Scott, How wide are these rolls?

RC

OvalTrucker
03-13-2006, 08:38 PM
Okay, you have 1 benefit for 2 rolls and I have 3 benefits for 3 rolls.... I still win! LOL!! Jus' skiddin!

These rolls are all 12' wide. They come in 80', 100' or 160' lengths. If we were to go with 2 rolls we would still have to have the short sections like we have now to make up the corners.

I was thinking if we started to use carpet tape on the underside of the carpet each time they assembled the track it would help to eliminate the bumps in the corners. I am not positive this will work, but may be worth a try.

Roadsplat
03-13-2006, 09:48 PM
Well I guess if we would have to use a short section at the ends then going with 3 rolls would be the better solution.

It'd be great having new carpet wheter it be 2 rolls or 3. I'll do all I can to help get this.

maybe we should talk to jon before we get ahead of ourselves. this is his deal and he should be the one to decide if he wants to do this. keith and the group that use to run dirt oval tried to help out like this once before and we had the guy so mad at us that he was going to cancel are races for the weekend. i'm sure jon will not have a problem with this idea but we better respect his thoughts first.
