Does anyone know the name of the store/website in Orlando that was selling the gargantuan rolls of 3M strapping tape during the Birds for $6?
I saw one today and it must be about 1000 meters long!!!

Just tried to Google spacecraft and received the normal 100 billion hits on spacecraft! :freak:

Would someone mind posting a phone # or web address?
Thanks!

The 3M 898 tape is what your looking for, it's 3M's top of the line strapping tape,it's the absolute best you can get for batteries,I've been using it for years now,and have never had a battery come undone,no matter how bad the crash, you'll break the chassis before this stuff comes undone. It can't be had at wal-mart,I was told Grainger had it.Just checked Grainger has it but it's way too expensive, here's the best price that I've found so far, http://www.vernonlibrarysupplies.com/cgi-bin/vernlib.cgi/scan/MM=e5ce973598a35caf1ed9b85e366a5d76:100:149:50?mv_ session_id=i57GBGRD&mv_pc=68&mv_more_ip=1&mv_nextpage=results

Does anyone have a picture of this tape?? We (Perfect Circle got some 3m tape for testing.. it was very very strong, But it wasnt like regular strapping tape.. It was almost like a really strong plastic tape.. It wouldnt break, but didnt seem as sticky as the other stuff out there.. tho we never had a battery come undone, we thought racers wouldnt like it.. We still have a case of it here, im just curious if this is the same stuff you guys are inquiring on.. thanks

Mike,

This tape looks like any other strapping or I think they call it filiment tape. It's kinda expensive but it works the best of any battery tape I've ever tried, well worth the extra cost to keep the batteries in place.I normally go through about one or two rolls a year, which comes out to about $15- $16 a year for tape.

That black stuff is hands down the best battery tape that money can buy. Rob and I both sell the same tape and there is none better.

898 is NOT wolfe black tape MFGR part number.. I wont post what it is...But I will say 898 is not the intertape PN.. Intertape being the MFGR part number..

Kenwood is correct that 898 is not the same tape or brand (not 3m). Eric is also correct that the black tape that we both sell is by far the best available on the market.

Go to your local busines machine store and have them order 3m part No .893 which is 1/2" straping tape for about $4, decent size roll, can't beat it !

Why is the black tape "the best"?

Oh I know all about the black intertape.. When Wolfe decided NOT to ship any for an infinite amount of time.. I hooked up with intertape(Manufacturer of the tape) and convinced them to send me samples of part number XXX .. when I tried to procure rolls from a local distributor I found out that it sells by the case which is 100 rolls.. So I decided to live off of my samples untill other get it in stock...which eventually everyone did..except wolfe.. I considered buying 100 rolls and selling it....But I have enough problems getting my car running right at the track without having to play tape salesman on the side...LOL..

I can DESTROY that price>>>If wanted to buy 100 rolls of the black stuff..but 100 rolls would last me about 50 lifetimes..

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I've tried the black stuff and it doesn't come close to the 898,besides what's the big secret with the part # on the black stuff,it's not hard to find out, guess I'll do a little research and post it myself. I guess I ought to buy 100 rolls of the 898 and sell the "BEST" stuff on the market

I've been getting clear and red stuff that's been every bit as good or better then the black of blue stuff I've seen others useing at, "are you ready for this" The 99cents Store. No kidding. Bought like 20 rolls of red and 10 rolls of clear.

The 99cent stores are a chain store here in Southern Calif. :) :p

I'll have to agree with that statement. It's great tape; and even two rolls per year only adds up to about $15.00. These days, $15.00 only gets the Jeep about 85 miles down the highway. Wrong place to try to save money, IMHO. Thanks; Ernie P.
