I was PMed by another member about MBX 2006 1-75 Series #21, 1962 VW BEETLE about the two different hubs. While I was taking some pics for him, I noticed the wheels on the retro-rims appear to be narrower than the wheels with the lace hubs. Anyone noticed this before and if any further information please. Thanks again, Olesarge90/Gill

I learned the following from Christian, on MCCH Forum, about my question on the wheels widths on the MB 1-75 Series 1962 red VW Beetle.

"ChFalkensteiner"

"Solid disc wheels are 4mm wide, lace wheels are 5mm wide.

This of course applies to those wheel types in general and not the Beetle in particular."

Thanks to Christian for that information. Olesarge90/Gill

Those are great pictures. Which wheel variation is the hard-to-find one? I think the lace wheels might be the early version. Anyone know? I also found one of these VWs without the headlights painted. Another variation?

...regular MB line sells well here..always new stock being put out...last one I bought was the blue Ford Pickup..there were lace wheel VWs then....wish Walmart still stocked the Superfast cars though..last ones I saw hanging were a blue Ford GT and a red BMW convertible..
...edit..."a 2 for 1 post...!

We noticed that when you roll the retro-rims version of the red beetle, it makes a little clicking noise inside that sounds like the old air-cooled VW flat four.
Is this intentional from MB? 'cause it's really cool.

I found the retro-rim version first. I believe it was the first issue for 2006.
Later, I would the lace wheel version.
Since then I have seen several more, all with lace wheels.
The ones that I have do have painted headlights.
So I don't no if the one without painted headlights is a variation or an error.
I am sure that someone will shed some light on this area.
BYW this is a very nice casting from MB.
Thanks Gil for the pictures.

Cheers. Cobra

The disc wheel is suppose to be the current version of the Regular Disc Wheel!
