View Full Version : Fantom Dyno Question dave w 1 02-23-2006, 02:39 PM Hi bought a dyno with laptop what do i do for a power supply 12volt battery with a charger hooked up? thanks  j21moss 02-23-2006, 02:52 PM get ya a 12 volt garden tractor battery and a maintence charger and your set Mayhem 02-23-2006, 06:58 PM Batteries are OK but if you can get a power supply 75 amps or higher you will get consistent readings all day. I tried the tractor and car batteries but after a few pulls I would notice the time base/spinup numbers getting slower after a couple hours at the track. They are expensive but the readings are consistant, and 75 amps provides enough peak power for startup using stocks or 19 turns, at least last year it did. Some will say to use a trickle charger while dynoing, but my instructions clearly said not to, it could harm the dyno. If you must use a battery charge it often and keep an eye on the time base #'s Kenwood 02-23-2006, 08:27 PM When I had my fantom dyno I used a 75 amp PS.. never had a problem with stocks or 19T motors...You could not pay me enough to put a mod motor on a fantom...LOL.. Had I known you were looking for a fantom when you sold me the turbodyno45 I would have traded you one with a power supply and all plus some cash...lol dave w 1 02-23-2006, 08:34 PM Yeah I Know I Could Not Pass This Deal Up ! TOME57 02-23-2006, 08:43 PM Dave - I use a 75 amp power supply. The power is consistent and when your looking for motor numbers, consistency is the key. It's plenty good for stock and 19 turn. dave w 1 02-24-2006, 03:01 PM Hey Guys Do I Leave The Swich On While Testing Or Turn It Off Then Back On? PUF19 02-24-2006, 03:10 PM off/on, touch the leeds together and you will be asending it out for repair!!! dave w 1 02-24-2006, 03:20 PM thanks nick! Anytime72 02-24-2006, 06:39 PM Dave, I kept my switch off then flicked it on that also lets you know that your leads are on the right sides of the motor. You can see the flywhel turn very slightly and I always looked at the direction, it helps some when the lighting isn't that great. Walter Anybody want to buy mine, it has the fan in the center of the top of the case, it's called the drag update. tightline31408 02-24-2006, 08:59 PM Dave, I kept my switch off then flicked it on that also lets you know that your leads are on the right sides of the motor. That is a com port issue. If your computer is using something else on com port 1 that is your problem. Look at your com ports in systems on ur computer and change what ever is using port 1, then reselect com port 1 in the dyno program. Porksalot4L 02-25-2006, 10:49 PM how do you get to and change whats on the ports? jflack 02-26-2006, 08:36 AM For XP, go to Start left click, go to settings, open control panel, open systems, open device manager, then Hardware, then go to ports. That should get you in the ballpark. To change whats on the port, you will need to find what is on the port and change it to another port. You may even need to rename the com port you are using for the dyno. I use a USB port and it took me some time to get everything to work. ovalbackmarker 02-26-2006, 09:23 AM Hey Dave, How about leaving me a feedback? tightline31408 02-27-2006, 09:48 PM HEY guys !! thanks for the info AJS 02-27-2006, 10:50 PM Tightline send me a private message and I think I can hook you up. tightline31408 02-27-2006, 11:16 PM Tightline send me a private message and I think I can hook you up. u have a pm  JRN 02-27-2006, 11:33 PM you have a pm tightline31408 02-27-2006, 11:39 PM you have a pm U are a big timer!!! wowracer1 02-28-2006, 12:39 AM Tightline ?????? rezalb8891 02-28-2006, 01:00 AM i had same error 57 problem on dyno and went to windows version and it worked just fine then went back to dos and it started doing the same thing and i was told to wait a little longer after turning the on/off switch before hitting the run button tightline31408 02-28-2006, 01:04 AM Tightline ??????
