Like racin Jason stated, it does look like it uses peltiers... Burbs, the coldness really depends on the rating of the peltier. Also the type of heatsink you use.

THe muchmore cooler I guess uses a heat pump instead. Similar to a peltier but different.

Hi everybody and thanks fot your interest,

To reply to some of your question,

I never have personnally one of the MM units, and I don't realy want to play the game of which is better... I just want to offer you my product and I will let my customers see for themself and made there own opinion... but honestly I'm confident. I have already a good testimonial from an happy customer on my website.

Yes this unit use some peltier device, but please I hope this thread will stay on topic and it will not be turn into a how-to thread.

With this "Motor Freezer" you will not need to use an upside down air can or something like this again, the freezer effect stay longer because it's not only in surface.

And thank Pace for the kind word  maybe I could give you a 10% rebate .... lol

Another nice thing about this one is you can use it while in the car because of the half C clamp.

I got 2 of them in today and they are top notch.
Might not be as pretty and polished as the MM unit, but definately gets colder and alot quicker. In less than 5 minutes there was frost on the clamp. Plus the clamp is made of copper and not alum. Copper from what I understand conducts the cold much better than alum.

Has anybody experiment on how this would effect the magnets in your motor?...I mean
at a big race...Who cares but for weekly racing...........Would you have to rezap your magnets or replace them sooner?

Dont worry about my 2 units. I picked up 2 guards and attached them last night.
I did find out that a #4 1" flathead screw worked perfectly.
Added 3' of 18gu wire with some alligator clips and she is ready to rock and roll.

Hi erock1331, it's as you wish... I was supposed to ship it to you today, and the screws I use was also #4 1" flathead screw ;) . Will you test them this weekend?

Hi bud3738, I'm not realy a motor expert... but heat would effect negatively the magnets in our motor... If you start with a colder motor you could also finish with a colder motor and I'm sure that it will prolonge the life of your magnet. I saw no degradation in the performance of my motor by using the Freezer.

But if a motor expert could give us his opinion about that, I will be please.

There are no adverse affects of freezing a motor that I have found. Keeping it cold allows the motor to stay cooler longer which reduces resistance (as the motor gets hot the resistance goes up...one of the reasons a motor slows down during a race) and it keeps the magnets cool as well as their strenght goes down with heat.

Cant go wrong with a motor cooler that actualy works (like this one does) in my opinion.

How does this compare to the MM cooler, that I just bought? is there a way to make the MM get cooler I heard that a different fan or something could be used?

erock1331

pepe,
I talked to a guy that was making these devices long before MM was.

He said a major component to how well it cools was definately the fan used and how much air (CFM) it puts out to cool the heat sink.

The 50mm fan on the muchmore is about as strong as you can get in that size. I hear it is custom made for them. Believe me I searched and searched when my MM fan broke. I never did find anything quite as powerful as their's was. Best i could find in 50mm was 17 cfm, 5800 rpm. The MM fan was 12,000 rpm, never did get the cfm rating, If I had to guess i would say around 20 cfm. Mine cooled well though after I replaced the fan. Still got the motor down to low 20's high 30's.

Crazy Ronny's uses a 60mm fan. The bigger the better it seems.

It's exact. the colder you can kept the hot side, the colder your cold side will be. But there is some limit, past a certain point, even if you blow more air it will not make any significant difference.

what we have been doing is
before you put the motor in the car, take a small plastic tupperware container and cut a hole in the bottom of it, large enough to fit over the clamp. then drop the motor in from the top and put the lid back on. This keeps the warm air off the motor and allows it to get cooler. My buddies motor was down to 13 degrees.

It froze to the clamp, lol

Then take it out with 2 heats to go and put the motor in and put the cooler back on the motor.

I was able to run my fastest run ever at Classic in stock using this method.

Hi Bret, are you sure it's one of my freezer that you have? I can't see how this could appen, the clamp side and heatsink side is bolt together and this make a realy tough unit.

But if it's one of my units send me an email to info@crazyrcracing.com and I will take care of it.

Bret, Ronny is a real stand-up guy. If you have any problems I am sure that he will set you right. I'll see you at the Rock very soon. If you have any questions it would be my pleasure to help you out.

Crazy Ronny's unit is by far the best that I have used. Recently, I used it to help me win the 1/12 scale class at the Jeff Sears Memorial Race in Plattsburgh.

My techno freind tells me the cold will not adversly affect the magnets in stock. But due to the very strong rare earth magnets used in mod cans, you probably only want to chill them. It has a similar effect on the magnets as heat does in demagnetization. Heavy wall impacts are our biggest worry anyway. BC

Rockin Bob13, I am not sure about your "techno" friend, but I believe that a cooler motor at the end of my 4 minute run is better. Heat takes away power and efficiency.

Sorry dude, you can keep listening to your friend, but I will keep using my "Crazy Ronny motor freezer" and keep my car in the winners circle!

I didn't say it was bad to run a cold motor. You should use it. I said if you make it too cold, that could weaken the mags in mod cans. I dip mine in liquid nitrogen and beat 'em all the time. ;) BC

I suppose you would have to consider this to be a testimonial. I bought five of the Motor Freezers to sell at Thunder Road. At the first race, one of our racers went up a tooth on his pinion, cooled the motor, and set a new lap record; running two laps faster than the previous record. The things seem to work!
