I guess that since they both have airplanes and one has ships that I can mention these here. I got North by Northwest (Stearman in the corn field) and all 26 episodes of Victory at Sea on a special three disc set and it was only $5.50 too! I used to look forward to those being on as "filler" on Saturday between movies that didn't fill out the time spot when I was a kid and to now have all of them and for next to nothing is really nice.

Where did you find these? I used to love to watch the "Victory at Sea" documentaries.

The Wal Mart discount bin is truly a pain that rarely yields a good find.

Although I did spot the recent Thunderbirds movie in it. That one tanked and got mediocre critical reviews but for the five or so bucks, it is worth it I think. And I did see Iron Giant on the shelf there for $7.50 Canadian, a very cool little movie IMHO.

Found Rattle and Hum for $4.88 in the dump bin-and yes I hate that thing too. Kinda like dumpster diving. I felt very sorry for the guy next to me in the wheelchair digging through there.

I seem to recall seeing somewhere on the dvd that Jonathan Frakes (director) said that was the film the studio wanted.

I also agree that Iron Giant is a very cool movie! Highly underrated!

Back on topic, my most recent "bargain bin" grab was the Adam West/Burt Ward Batman DVD. Even as a kid I didn't like the movie as much as the TV show, but I bought it mostly for close-ups of the Batmobile--reference material for when I finally get around to converting my Futura kit. ;)

I picked up PIN at Walmart today for $7.88CDN (about $6.90US). I was a little worried because the disc is distributed here by Seville which is a Canadian company that has been known to sell some less-than-stellar transfers from PAL masters. Anchor Bay makes a pricier disc of PIN.

I was quite pleased to discover that the Seville disc is the Anchor Bay transfer. It has the Anchor Bay logo at the start. Good movie. Good Deal.

I don't mind the dump bins at all, there's 3 at the Wally World Super Center here. Got lots of good films, Croc Dundee 1 and 2 (I like em and that's really all that counts) Rattle and Hum, Cool World, Blade Runner, What Dreams May Come, Panic Room (Superbit), Single White Female, Magnum Force, Sudden Impact, Firefox, and at least a dozen more. Thing is, if you're even remotely interested in a film, for 4 or 5 bucks you can't go wrong.

I grabbed the X-files movie out of the dump bin yesterday.

I despise that bin. They fill it to the freakin top. Then you try to dig. Then every stooge passing by has to stop and see what is so interesting and start digging to. This makes the hole you are digging collapse into itself. I usually get disgusted and quit. They now have a nice little cardboard wrap that makes the bin look nice. This however has made it impossible to at least be able to catch a glimpse at some of the titles at the bottom. I hate it!

Easy remedy, don't go to it anymore. Leaves more titles for guys like me. BTW, got Ghosts of Mars a coupla days ago, and Stir of Echoes yesterday. Not seen 'em yet, but they were less than 5 bucks, so if they're even slightly decent it was money well spent.

Though the one thing that really annoys me: people who have to throw the DVD's back into the bin, you've seen 'em.
