I bought the Maisto 1/24th scale Impala police kit this week. The main reason was so that I could apply the JBOT OPP decal set on to it. It shows as a Middlesex Country cruiser I took a picture of in 2003 just so I could get a model like this I did this week.

It goes along with the 2000 Crown Vic I did up as a Middlesex based OPP cruiser few years ago. The Crown Vic has a fake side door number. I had no reference to draw on for that one.

Enjoy!!

I was looking at the car over the past few days and it needed a bit if detailing and a small change in the light bar to "make it right" for me. I will try to get some up-dated pictures of the things I did to it. After thinking about I think that this one should be in the customizing section. I will carry posting here and post any new "projects" like this in it's proper section.

These are the best of the pictures car I have. As for detailing, if I wanted to, I could paint out the rear tail light assembly to match the way they are done on the real car. That is, two round red circles on each side of the car with the rest blacked out. The front head lights could be detailed by removing lenses and paint a black mask within the lense area. Silver headlight light bulb areas could be either painted in or chrome film could be applied. Maybe it could be done on a future car conversion.

It think that it is great that Maisto makes an Impala that can be customized to make whatever police department you happen to like since the car is basicly a plain base car. In my case, I created a local police department car that will live long after the real car is retired from the road.
