A somewhat "freak" winter thunderstorm passed through today which allowed me to test my lightning detector. It's not hooked into my weather site (www.hobbytalk.com/weather/ (http://www.hobbytalk.com/weather/)) yet but will be once I get the receiver/antenna perm. mounted. Below are a couple of screenshots done within a few minutes of each other.

The colored one is from the WeatherUnderground. The squares show lightning strikes in the area. Larger squares are recent strikes... smaller are older.

The "duller" grey-tone one is from my lightning detector. Xs show recent strikes, the dots are older strikes.

Since I still have the receiver/antenna just mounted on the wall of my computer room, wasn't sure how well it would work. Looking at the attached pics you can see it was working well... tracked the storm all the way from Chicago. Cool beans!!!

The field I play soccer on has a detector that detects electricity in the air and lets off a siren to warn us to get off the field...
