Talking about rules.....I know track measurements would be around 130ft. for drag lines does it need as much for the deceleration or ''brake zone'' ?Stephane Courchesne

You can go to http://www.imdra.com/ to get rules and information for laying out a track.

Also you will find others in your area in the forum section under divisions.

Ok. From what I read so far I need 132 X 2 +15 more feet, for track and shout down area. I the place I am looking at and like to do a event is not 300ft. long. I am looking to run indoors. On a dek hockey rink. It is 180X90. Was thinking of 61 feet drag race. I can put up foam to help stop at the far end. Why I ask, is. Not far from me in Wv. there is a 1/8 mile drag strip. and 35 mins is a 1/4 mile drag strip.

RC drag racers have run scale 1/8th mile in the past for various reasons, like failed timing sensors or not enough track lighting. The more shutdown area you have the better and foam works the best, using 12" of heavy foam will stop a car without damaging it too bad if at all...

Timing systems can be purchased and setup to run any scale you want as long. If the system is computer based it makes it much simpler to change lengths/scales for calculating MPH, etc.

Check out IMDRA.com on their Forum for racing in your area...

Good luck

If anyone runs scale 1/8 mile drag track does it mean cars could be powered by 6 cells instead of 8? And I suppose some E.T. bracket- type system would be popular for such short strips?

Stephane.. we run 6 and 8 and 10 and 20 cells in electric no matter what we ... full 1/10th quarter or 1/10th 1/8 strip.. just a different gearing some times....
