Having been semi-retired this racing season due to health problems, I have been able to follow some of the soap operas on this board this season, must say it almost makes me embarrassed to admit I am in this hobby. There seems to be a few "racers" who thrive on creating some sort of trouble either between racers or shops with heresay or untrue rumors. Over the yrs I have seen many fine tracks go under because of this very situation. I can remember having a ton of fun just racing a Fox or a Hornet without a ton of $$$ extras on it. Having a RC-10 and being able to race it at just about any track around and be in the hunt. Now you need a car for each track because of all the different classes and rules, let along a case of the newest, freshest batteries available just to compete. And don't forget about the Clicks of "I am a greatest thing to drive a rc car so stay out of my way group" All I see if this continues is fewer tracks, fewer racers, and a handful of elite minded grown up kids who can stand around patting themselves on the back for ruining what was once a great hobby!

come back and run an s/k car... spec racing is the solution to your problem. Laid back attitude, whether you race at Madness or Montville. Cheap cars too.

 There are still some of us that just get out and have some fun. When it finally hits you, that life is too short, and we shouldn't spend it bickering and fighting and name-calling and every other stupid thing that we can think of, then there is the chance that we can enjoy our hobby just a bit more. You can go out and but all the best batteries, chargers, dynos, latest cars, radios, etc, but if you act like an a$$, that's all people see. The guy that shows up with an old RC10 or a 10L, is friendly and polite, tries his best, apologizes when he taps you on the track, these are the guys we need in this hobby. Not the people who bash you on and off the track, spread lies and rumors about others or wish them harm. You guys know who you are, and so does everyone else! You can't hide from that, no matter how hard you try.
I race with 4-5 guys, when we can, and I think we have alot of fun. We all like to win, but not enough to pi$$ each other off, and we are always ready to lend a part or set-up to others. You are more then welcome to come and run with us. We will be at John's River Junction this coming Sat, and we always have a blast there, and it is one of the most layed-back and comfortable places to run. We also enjoy going to Freddies, in Ravenna.
Don't be discouraged by the small percentage of jerks out there, that seem to do theur best, to create havoc. I'm pretty sure we outnumber them.
Take care and see you at the races,
Dale Steele

Couldn't have said it better myself. Keep it fun and the hobby will grow. And always remember it is nothing more than a hobby.
