I thought this was so cool, I went to Wal-mart so my wife could get some stuff for her nails and I wondered over to the diecast; I was thumbing through the new matchbox cars and picked up a new black mercedes wagon and it felt kind of heavy. I looked underneith the car and it had a metal base. Are there any other new releases with metal bases. I think this is really cool; I have not seen a new 1:64 Matchbox car with a metal base in a loooong time. :wave:

I picked up the E430 wagon at Target yesterday. Didn't even notice the metal base until you mentioned it. Wonder why it has a metal base?

I'll have to look at those a little closer.

Yep, I just checked the chassis on my E430 too and it's metal. I do wish that MB would put in interior side panels on their hardtop vehicles though, it kinda cheapens the car to leave them out. But I'll keep buying them anyway as they're the only game in town for some models.
