View Full Version : Gentlemen, Start Your Engines, "Bud Shootout"
Swifty 02-11-2006, 07:26 PM For those who remember the old GSYE threads, same concept applies. For those of us new to this, it's simple. You watch the race while sitting at your computer, and post about it. What better way to discuss a race than when it's going on?
Race starts at 8:30PM EST tonight on TNT. Prerace at 8:00.
Swifty 02-11-2006, 09:07 PM Race has been rain delayed until tomorrow at 4PM EST, also on TNT. Bud pole qualifying will start at 12:00 noon.
See you then!
DarkestLove 02-12-2006, 03:17 PM I can be here around 4:00 p.m.
Btw, how much driver bashing is tolerated on here? I have to ask since I'm a fan of J. Gordon and Dale Jr., and their respective fans mix about as well as oil and water.

Good natured poking fun at drivers is tolerated. ;)
I'm a Bill Elliott fan myself. I only watch the races he's in, hence why I'm here today. Once he retires for good I'm through with NASCAR forever. NASCAR has become "professional" wrestling on wheels... which I refuse to support. When I started watching in the mid-'80s the cars were actually semi-stock looking....

Yeah, I've seen a big change even in the last few years. Kinda sad.

Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:36 PM The cars are on the track, green flag soon!

To me, "real" NASCAR died in 1998. I pinpoint the arrival of the Ford Taurus as the end, or more specifically, the end of the Ford Thunderbird (a rear wheel drive coupe) as the end. Currently the only rear wheel drive car on the circuit is the Charger, and that's a sedan!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:42 PM Ken Schrader takes the green flag, and the race is on!
Let's have a good clean race today!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:44 PM Schrader leads lap 1! Can he lead all 70?
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:46 PM So weird seeing Bill in a black and white Chevy.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:47 PM Mikey's lost the draft. Wonder if something's wrong witht he 55, or if he's just waiting for the second segment?
17 of Kenseth is dropping back with radiator problems!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:55 PM CRASH!
Newman, Kahne, Jarrett, Vickers, Riggs, others...
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:57 PM Vickers and Newman have damage. Harvick goes behind the wall.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 05:58 PM Schrader still leading!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:04 PM Green flag has been waved off... Kahne pits again.
First eleven drivers didn't pit, Bill Elliott (12th) and behind him pitted.
Kahne drives past his pit box without stopping...
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:05 PM First segment will not restart, Ken Schrader wins segment 1.
in2deep 02-12-2006, 06:25 PM anyone see the arca race today? that crash near the end was wild.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:26 PM Back to racing with a close call! And Gordon's got a tire down! Caution out!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:27 PM anyone see the arca race today? that crash near the end was wild.
Missed it. Who won the race?
Lebanon's own Bobby Gerhart had the pole position!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:30 PM Gordon's smoke problem wasn't a tire going down, it was oil smoke. He's done for the day!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:38 PM Back to green flag racing!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:40 PM Gerhart won the ARCA Daytona 200 earlier today!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:43 PM Junior to the top spot!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:44 PM Kyle Busch back to the lead, Mikey's second!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:45 PM Michael Waltrip to the lead! Yeah!
Unscheduled pit stop for Sadler.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:47 PM Kahne to the garage!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:48 PM Edwards almost piles into a bunch of cars trying to pit!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:50 PM Black flag for Carl Edwards. Passed cars below the yellow line (trying to avoid them as they pitted).
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:51 PM Bad call by NASCAR. Edwards was avoiding cars trying to pit, not trying to advance position.
Next time I'm sure he'll just smash into them...
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:52 PM Edwards serves his penalty at 55MPH passing through pit road.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:54 PM If I were driving the #99 I think I'd've just stayed out and kept on racing. Worst NASCAR can do is stop scoring you... and if you appeal the penalty and win you're in better shape than taking the penalty and finishing last among the cars still running...
in2deep 02-12-2006, 06:57 PM edwards got frigging roobbed. why not penalize everybody? they all passed johnson and busch. and they should just park busch now anyway, all hes done is wreck people. he's caused BOTH of the wrecks thus far, and just hit stewart.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 06:58 PM and they should just park busch now anyway, all hes done is wreck people. he's caused BOTH of the wrecks thus far, and just hit stewart.
Yup. He and his brother are nothing but trouble on the Nextel Cup circuit. I'm glad Kurt isn't racing today.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 07:11 PM The Frenchman has returned! That's a debris caution for those not familiar with our old terminology!
Newman scrapes the wall, smokes, loses pieces...
in2deep 02-12-2006, 07:11 PM oh this is gonna be good. stewart passed hamlin, and every car was 2 wide behind him
in2deep 02-12-2006, 07:13 PM Busch Lost His Track Position!!!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 07:17 PM Green-white-checker!
Swifty 02-12-2006, 07:18 PM Hamlin's going to win this in style!
in2deep 02-12-2006, 07:27 PM that was great. one of the best finishes i've seen.
Swifty 02-12-2006, 07:29 PM Nice to see Hamlin win his first race, even if it isn't a points race. He's elligible for life now- not bad for someone who hasn't even run more than a handful of races, ever, in Nextel Cup!
DarkestLove 02-12-2006, 07:38 PM I got dragged out to the mall. Missed everything but the first two laps. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/boondocksaint979/emoticons/thdb-dry.gif

in2deep 02-12-2006, 09:10 PM i really like hamlin. hes doing everything clean and is trying all his hardest to do good. its a big breath of fresh air over johnson and the super busch brothers.
nascardiecast 02-12-2006, 09:11 PM Congrats To Hamlin On His First Nextel Cup Win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What A Great Way For A Rookie To Kick Off The 2006 Nextel Cup Season :)
Lpgeoteacher 02-16-2006, 12:02 PM Boy, who needs professional announcers when you can have SWIFTY!
Swifty 02-17-2006, 12:55 AM Boy, who needs professional announcers when you can have SWIFTY!
A long time ago (when I was about ten or so) I really wanted to be a race broadcaster for NASCAR events. I just never followed through on the dream. I'm glad in a way, however, as I really don't care for the state of NASCAR these days anyway. I'd find it hard to show any enthusiasm for Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, etc.
in2deep 02-17-2006, 01:27 AM heres my emphasis on random drivers...
newman: decent driver, house is flooded with pole throphies
kyle busch: HEY LOOK! TONY STEWART! *bam*
kurt busch: i will never look at the two car the same again.
jimmie johnson: HEY LOOK! *insert driver here* *bam*
carl edwards: can CLEANLY win races. also, i've never seen him frown.
