Has anyone produced a 1:64 of the 64/65 Thunderbirds. If anyone knows of them or has a source I would like to get my hands on both years.

Come to think of it I really can't think of anybody that has done this car. This would be a very good candidate... Tone 02-09-2006, 11:36 PM The Hot Wheels is a 1963. Johnny Lightning has many Thunderbord castings of various years, though. craftymore 02-09-2006, 11:40 PM Has anyone produced a 1:64 of the 64/65 Thunderbirds. As far as I know, Matchbox did not make a T-Bird and JL has not made one of those above years that your searching for. Mabye someone with more knowledge than me can answer the question better, but this is the best I can do! ;) Zach Swifty 02-10-2006, 09:13 AM I've seen pictures of a rare Japanese model of the 1965 Thunderbird at the MCCH. However, before you get your hopes up, the hood opens... to reveal a spare tire. Not the most accurate car, obviously, and is painted multi-colored with weird stickers/tampos. But the body lines looked decent. No idea on the brand name of this car, but none of the big companies have done this car. And as badly as the Thunderbirds series hung on the pegs, it's doubtful Johnny Lightning will do one any time soon... ParkRNDL 02-11-2006, 12:00 AM I know, I do this all the time... someone posts looking for a pic of a diecast, and I post a pic of the corresponding slot car. I just can't help myself... Anyway, if you're interested, the original version of this car was made by Tyco in the 1960s and was part of their line of Tyco S slot cars. The one in these pictures is a resin-cast replica made using a Tyco as a master. I've seen originals sell for several hundred dollars on the Bay. I didn't cast this one, a friend from the slot car boards did... http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird01.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird02.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird03.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird04.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird05.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird06.jpg http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rwurtz/images/65tbird07.jpg --rick Galaxieman 02-13-2006, 03:51 PM I've seen pictures of a rare Japanese model of the 1965 Thunderbird at the MCCH. At this point I wouldn't care if Godzilla popped out when the hood opened :o Anything is better than nothing- - - - -well almost ;) Tone 02-13-2006, 10:50 PM It's true. A long-time collector in California has one in his collection. It could be a Ja-ru or Larami, more likely Gordy, one of those 70s off-brands. At any rate, it may have even been plastic but, yes, it was a 1964-66 T-Bird in a sort of bright psychedelic color scheme with weird labels. BTW here is the Hot Wheels '63, a nice one in a cool color: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b228/PropMonster/Hot_Wheels/HotWheelsTBird63green.jpg vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
