AQUA XK8 02-08-2006, 08:29 AM That Dodge Pickup (with tampos removed) would be nice.
pms485 02-08-2006, 08:36 AM Just not the same as the old sets. I'm afraid these will hang forever.

Mark Hosaflook 02-08-2006, 09:17 AM Can you remove the tampo without harm to the candy chrome. If so some of those are nice.

That's the only thing I think is promising. They would make great customs when they are marked down.
CTWLSMIKE 02-08-2006, 09:33 AM Wow, those are some awful casting choices. The Camaro seems nice, and the Daytona might be decent, but it's seriously down hill from there.
I was never into the Monopoly series :(
Wyatt 02-08-2006, 10:00 AM Can you remove the tampo without harm to the candy chrome. If so some of those are nice.
I've done that on other candy sets, like the 2002 Holiday Classics. The blue Superbee, green GTX, and red Nomad look much better without 2002 on them. Probably the same deal on these.
Reddwarf2 02-08-2006, 10:00 AM What is the Tampo on the side of the 65 mustang?
pms485 02-08-2006, 10:02 AM What is the Tampo on the side of the 65 mustang?
Sideways electric company
Reddwarf2 02-08-2006, 10:05 AM Thanks, I couldn't see it at first but the viel has been lifted now.
Macs_Little_Car 02-08-2006, 10:20 AM And (here's something Peter will like) they not only come with the little token, but this release even has Monopoly Money in it!!

Sort of like an instant rebate!
Wyatt 02-08-2006, 11:11 AM I read somewhere that more Monopoly money is printed than real money.
flipper67 02-08-2006, 03:32 PM What I like about this series is on the card, it states "Authentic Factory Paint Colors".
Wow, didn't know Black Chrome was a paint option!

Tampo came off the Coke Ornaments 2005 ok too. That Duster needs some work!
ViperMan 02-08-2006, 04:31 PM What no viper LOL that's ok I don't really care for this set anyway. The paint looks good but the tampos aren't that great.
DarkestLove 02-08-2006, 04:39 PM I'll buy the Camaro, but that's it.

Bugzy 02-08-2006, 05:22 PM ..I like the Camaro too..
accobra64 02-08-2006, 06:10 PM More "premium" JLs at an inflated price to join all of the other stuff that is NOT selling.
We still have some of the previous 70th aniversary hanging on the pegs.
Now they will join the Poker, Clue, Saturday Evening Post, Universal Studios Monsters
and all the other licensed JL castings that are not selling.
We get the occasional Street Freaks sets but not much else other than the licensed.
WHERE are all the muscle car releases and all the GOOD stuff going.
The OLDs are getting a small trickle of them, but where is the rest?
I hate to say it, but this is really frustrating.
Money to spend on JLs but nothing to buy or can't get what I want.
Certainly, some other diecast manufacturers are benefitting from this JL problem.
Sorry for the rant, but had to get it out of my system again.
Cheers. Cobra

Cobra,
I am confused
December - right at Christmas
Camaro legends R1
January had
Muscle Cars R10
Class of 57 R1
Street Freaks R21
February has had already
Classic Gold R30
Trucks & SUVs R4
Chevy Thunder R4
That seems pretty good to me - 7 series releases inthe last 6 weeks
Every month there is scheduled 2 regular releases and 1 licensed release. Every other month (or so) is the Street Freaks release
Classic Gold 30 had 4 out of 4 brand new castings.
And then there are the 3 car 1/24 sets and 2 car 1/8 sets for Muscle Cars also every month
I think RC2 has actually been doing really good this year at getting the new product out. The fact that WM and Kmart and Target choose not to handle it is another problem and one that the consumer can do something about tell the store manager, write corporate, let them know how you feel
We have gotten in more cars these last 2 months than the last half of 2005. I have to say things seem to be running smoothly with their distribution and such now
Should they be putting out more releases? Or are you just frustrated because you local retailers stopped carrying JL product?
Phazer22 02-08-2006, 09:38 PM Not impressed! None will find their way home with me! Im sick of this stupid series! Peg warmer city!! :o
pms485 02-08-2006, 10:40 PM Come to think of it...I'm confused. One of the very last packages I did for JL was the Monopoly release before this one. However it too was the 70th Anniversary edition last year. How can this release also be celebrating their 70th in a new year?
accobra64 02-08-2006, 11:59 PM Cobra,
Should they be putting out more releases? Or are you just frustrated because you local retailers stopped carrying JL product?
Rob, nothing to be confused about in this case.
As an example, locally in the last year, we have gotten a steady diet of
licensed material in large quantities. I was at the local Walmart tonight and
counted 17 Clue, 6 original Import Heat, four full pegs of Poker, a peg of the
original 70th Anniversary Monopoly, and more old stuff. Nothing new.
About every two months we get a case of Street Freaks.
Sometimes they are older releases. I haven't seen a Classic Gold 2 release
since last Jan. or Feb. last year. Certainly not anything from a series with
muscle cars. Yes, things suck big time and that is why that I am frustrated.
Over a number of years, I bought a lot of JLs from OLDs, thus my large
collection of JLs. On vacations, I've visited many stores looking for JLs also.
With exchange rates, custom fees, postage and handling, these all add to
the final costs. I am not saying that this is a bad thing. Many times you don't
necessary get what you want without having to buy an inner at a minimum.
So this isn't always practical. I would just like to find some NEW JLs locally.
Bottom line, I just get tired of seeing mostly licensed stuff that isn't selling.
Hunting for them occasionally is fun. And finding new JL is almost a celebration.
I hope that I partially answered your question. I like my Johnnies.
I don't hate RC2 or JL, but would like to find something new locally.
Cheers. Cobra
accobra64 02-09-2006, 12:10 AM BYW Rob, thanks for the list of the new releases.
Could we have a sticky that could be added to each month as the new releases
for the year as they come out. I like that idea and think that it would be beneficial for
many collectors here. Thanks for your time and letting me vent.
Best wishes to all the JL collectors that visit here.
Cheers. Cobra
Swifty 02-09-2006, 01:29 AM I've only purchased five Monopoly cars, ever. And I bought those solely for the tokens. All of these cars have already been done in this series, hence the tokens have been available previously.

Long Arm of the LAW 02-09-2006, 03:44 AM yeah this is garbage at best
if they scrapped all these programs and concentrated more on getting stuff to the stores I would be more enthused about going out and buying new product
Inciteful 02-09-2006, 11:20 AM whats the white lightnings look like......
WL's in this series have White tires with White Lightning on them.

That was the temptation I had when I frist saw the older Monopoly sets but I never bought them. I may grab a few of this new series to get the tokens and strip off the tampos. Maybe do some customizing.
Black with chrome flames sounds pretty cool.
AQUA XK8 03-01-2006, 10:15 AM Ah yes, the series we love to hate. But some of these cars/trucks can be redeemed. Example - this 78 Dodge pickup. Remove the tampos and you have a vehicle that will fit right in with your Christmas Automent collection, or not. With tampos removed it's a truck with a high shine. Fits nicely in my collection.
