I have this paint spray can (krylon chrome plate) I recently ran out of them (I threw them all away - stupid of me - i could write down the number or take a picture of it) I had 3 cans for past 3 years. Now I have been to all walmart, home depot and even on line cannot find it. I dont know if they stopped selling them? ANy of you know where I can get them? Please let me know. I did go to krylon website i dont see any. Look at the picture thru the link below.

http://home.comcast.net/~darkhawk/ebay/paint.JPG

this is gold plate paint - just give you a idea what it looks like. I am looking for chrome plate just like in picture. HELP!!! I love using that paint for grills, bumpers, etc.. I did buy another chrome paint and its not as good as what I had before.

Thanks!

in an unpressurized cargo area. U.S. mail ground should not be an issue. It should be cheaper also.

Wes,
Checked the local -Marts last night and didn't see any on the shelf. Infact, the one store looked as if they were phasing the Krylon brand out all together. :freak: Will look at the Home fix it stores next time I'm in one. rr

if you're setup with an airbrush, Alcad (I think that's the name) makes plastic look like it's been chromed. It's sprayed over a coat of shiny black and looks just like it had been dipped.

Actually, I use or try to use Bare Metal foil when patching or wanting a chrome look for a bumper. Sometimes it does okay, other times I take it off and use my trusty old silver paint and let it go at that or until I can find a decent replacement or not. rr

Also take a look at craft stores like JoAnns, Pat Catans, and Michaels. Of course a Sherwin-Williams retail store would be a safe bet too. I have about 10 Sherwin-Williams stores within 20 miles of me.

Anytime I use BMF on a body, the last thing I do is to give her a few coats of Future. That way it helps protect the finish and the foil when I launch the car into the seats. :) rr

I thought I might could help with this-

Foil (Bare-Metal) has an adhesive backing that is pretty strong, as long as the mounting surface is clean and free of any grease or wax. If it’s laid down proper, it is almost impossible to get back off. It will tear, but as RR pointed out, that’s what the Future wax is for. Give it a go!

On the paint, here is what I use for larger chrome pieces. I have to be sure it is compatible with the piece, because this is lacquer. Sometimes I have to prime the piece first.

It’s a very “white” chrome and super shiny. It can even be buffed, if so desired. You wouldn’t believe how old this can is, but I can tell you there’s no bar-code! ;)

Cheers..

I'm the Engineering Manager for a Sherwin-Williams plant. We make the Krylon paints in our Michigan plant. I'll check on it for you tomorrow. If we don't sell it, I might be able to get it through our Re-work department.

I'll let you know tomorrow or the next day.

I'm told that this is now the 'Premium' krylon in a white label. I saw some of the 18K gold yesterday at my Wal-Mart. They were sold out of the Chrome but there are two more Wal-Marts I can go to.

Big boxes like Wal-Mart dictate how we package our paints, and if they want a new label then we march to that tune...fast!

Now....I was also told that the ingredients haven't changed with the new label, although that does happen sometimes. Sometimes the companies we get our raw materials from will try to increase margin by purchasing inferior latex, TIO2 (titanium), resins, mineral oils, etc. We find out either through manufacturing it or through complaints by the customer. We then backtrack it and make the vendor go back to the old formulation.

I say this because, in the real world, we update our paint formulations.....if you purchase this premium chrome, only purchase one can to ensure it's ok.

I am still checking with a couple more of our distribution centers (Effingham, Atlanta and Waco) to see if they have some of the older labeled chromes to be re-worked or in stock. Unfortunately....it's not one of the priorities on their list, hehe. Our distribution center doesn't have it though.

I'll keep ya updated.....and please let me know if that chrome is the one or not. We have 43 manufacturing plants......one of us should have it somewhere!
