As many of you know we are planning to start the changes at K&N. Your ideas are highly important during this time! Please leave us your feelings, ideas and thoughts here....we will consider all that is presented.

Also and I realize its alot to ask, but if you are interested in helping....WE WOULD SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT!

Thanks for the support!

Okay after getting some emails it was suggested that I start a list of things we need to address..... Although I dont have enough time to touch on every thing which should be added to the list (LOL) I will start it.

Please let us know if you have ideas about things listed, know great contacts for things we need;etc.... all help, suggestions, comments & advice is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! Please feel free to add to the list as well!

Things which need to be addressed:

A dumpster

A credit card machine

The hobby shop - to expand/add inventory/get better deals/etc

Painting - through-out - walls, floor, etc.

Carpet - yes we need it

Music

TV/Live screen

More advertising

Mailers

Incentives

Race prizes & gifts

Hours

Special Events

All the above has been listed on our "honey do list" and will be addressed. But your ideas and thoughts are most important to ensuring we really make the proper choices to solving these problems/issues.

Once we pick the dates to begin the changes, we will need help! Many of you have already said you would be glad to. So the sooner we get this list layed out & hear your feelings - the sooner we can get going!

Thanks everyone - As always we appreciate it.

I was just reading an interesting thread.. " Racing Carpet, What's out there? " it is in the general discussion area. The part I found interesting was that Rush&SonRC implemented softwall technology at their track. We certainly don't need the outer 4-6 inches of the turns. That would be a great (and money saving for the drivers) addition to the track. I realize that the idea is NOT to hit the wall! But $h!+ happens! :freak:

That's a very good list to get started with. Just a suggestion, I think you should priortize the things on that list: Address Hobbyshop first, reorganize, small remodling, make it bigger with the dead space to the left, This is a somewhat cheap but an important step to do. Credit card Machine, CARPET.... I'm not real sure but i think it would be best to do this with enough time for a grove to be put down and new tire combination or other changes that may need to made to the set-up, before a major event(NEOT or Trophie race. Just go down the list with what will make the best changes to the PUBLIC EYE.

Danielle either you or Chad 's gotta email or call Bruce Triplett from rc4less and get a dealer price sheet from him.He said all you have to do is call or email him.see what he may be able to do for you.

I agree, making this list in priority is most important...but I need to know what majority feels is the priority here. Not that we dont have our own opinions - just that having many to consider is best in our eyes.

I have said that because I dont race- I didnt know how the new carpet may or may not affect racers and their results (I honestly dont know if it will be a big deal or not) but I agree giving time to adjust is important.

Chad just mentioned having a free-for-all celebration once the new carpets in - giving everyone the chance to run a free night on the new carpet. I think thats a great idea.

With the Steve (carpet man) (poor nickname - LOL) being at snowbirds I cant even get an idea when he will be free to do the carpet - so I cant even guess when we are looking at that change.

Regardless, keep up the feedback - good, bad or down the middle we truly need it all.

Thanks

it's a better business move .

i think any class can run on that track, like it was said up a few lets get some of the tranny cars back out if they have foam tires run it. why not give it a try on the old carpet to see if you like it.this pasy Winterblast was smaller but non locals showed they can get it done as much as anyone.some of the things on the list may not be as high up as others but are cheap to do and some only take some hard manual labor but the end result should make a difference.danielle have Chad call me at work tommorow on my cell 1-774-242-3122

Steve - That was a long debate..... Flat or banked, but after the poll and talking to people most people felt that what made K&N different was the banked. Most people said they have to travel a considerable amount to get to K&N and if youre going to travel for a track - it may as well be different than MOST. Thus - its been the majority vote to keep it banked. I hear you on the flat - but everyone has it - then we would have even more competition with the rest...its hard enough to pull people over now...I cant imagine if we were alike the rest.

Its not that i dont like your idea - just sharing with you what our last poll and feedback was.

Im not saying making it flat is out - although its most likely out......

I will def share your thoughts with the man though - we very much appreciate your feedback!

John I told Chad but as his Secretary I must tell you - that would be a long shot (to get him to actually remember to call you - LOL) so I would call him between 2-3....although for the record he said he is going to call you (lets make a bet and see who wins...I bet $10.00 you call him first)....all in good humor - I love him!

Question:

How about this: What are your thoughts on the hours and days of operation?

Presently the schedule is:

Wednesdays 5-10
Fridays 5-10
Saturdays 10-5
Sundays 9-5

With that said there are days its open later than the designated hours.....but whats the overall feeling?

Danielle
02-07-2006, 08:31 AM
We know you all have much more to say than just this!!!! All I can do is ask that you use an outlet such as this to share your feelings...because soon enough we will start the changes - and I would hate to hear something wasnt addressed.....(because someone didnt bring it up)......

Lets make this thread a benefit to all who(m) post on it...but most important K&N...

If we are stand on the same page - serious about getting K&N back on its feet, it will happen!

That seems reasonable. I know that Fridays we generally don't clear out till 11, but if you set it to close at 10 we can count on 11 and not 12 ! If say 11 you'll never get out before 12. Sounds good.

Chad just got wind that Sandhills is going flat..... he needs to confirm this - has anyone heard? That will seriously make chad reconsider whether or not K&N stays banked, goes flat - or MAYBE closes all together!!!!

Why should the choices/changes of another track effect the future of K&N?

Hours: My opinion. go a little more traditional. 5 days open. wed,THURS,fri, sat, sun. Alot of tracks are open tues threw sun closed only one day. I understand than you have more cost, But cant make money if your not open. try different classes on different nights. EXAMPLE: weds=practice, thurs=gearbox racing, fri=practice/$7.00 race night, sat 1/18th scale (get the kids in with the parents), Sunday=racing.

I have to agree with RC Racer 100%.Who gives a hoot what other tracks do,racing on a banked oval is a premiere race event.Flat tracks are a dime a dozen, you seen one you'v seen them all!!!!!.I think its time we support Chad and Danielle or in the future there might not be a track to race on period.I dont think its needed to spend big bucks on going hogwild changeing everything at K&N,there are issues that have to be delt with, but do the things that are realey needed!!!!. Ok ,dont wanna make an essay outa this post, just wanna put my $.02 worth in. T.C.R.

Kids are always welcome but having a little one myself I know how hard it is to manage them there. With that said - everyone should know kids are welcome but keep in mind its a hobby shop/track aimed for adults and not all areas are safe for kids - thus parents need to keep a watchful eye to ensure safety.

Today has been a day of many emails - rather than postings. I apprecaite all of you taking the time & sharing your feelings as you have.

Keep the posts coming - its more helpful than you realize.

there is a flat track 30 mins from k/n. why compete with them. the banked track is definately a novelty, and that novelty brought the crowd back in the day. we go religiously a couple times a year, if it were flat we probably wouldnt come, except if the track was close to snowbirds for practice. do realize that ALL hobbies have taken a hit due to increases in living expenses over the past couple years. do what you have to in order to survive, but flat wont be the answer in my oppinon.

Danielle,From the post where it was said bring the kids,I dont think it was meant to bring them and letim run wild, look at the age group that comes to K&N,by no means are there any young adults, excepting a couple,we have to get young blood involved in this hobby or its going nowhere.Id be thrilled if my dad would take me to get involved in a hobby like R.C. car racing, but that didnt happinn. When I was a kid there wasnt any electricity LOL. Youl pull this thing over the hump im sure. Sandy

So you do know what it was like when the dinosaurs were here? Ive always wanted to hear a first hand experience.......JUST KIDDING SANDY!

I understand about the kids and support all the new blood - as long as their not shedding blood from injuries (LOL)........

I welcome everyone - young, old, in the middle -- male - female - green - blue..........everyone is welcome!!!!!

Danielle

I agree about the BANKED, Im sorry that I dont agree with many who want it flat - but I feel like whats the reason to come...seriously. If we are banked like everyone else we no longer hold out the K&N difference.... further now we add a ton of competition and why - so we can struggle more?

It would be different if Chad had 20 people per week UP AT THE TRACK asking for it - but those who do show (the little that show) continue with their enjoyment of Banked.

I think the main issue is the happy crowd....something thats been missing...how to get that back...start a list and work on it... thats MY goal to help Chad accomplish....

Its you all who need to help add to the list of things.....

Keep K&N alive...it will be worth it!

Thus it wont raise any tire concerns.....

For those interested ............after the meeting tonight we will begin the overhaul at K&N starting on March 4th and finish up by the 9th - everything BUT the carpet will be completed at that point.

Carpet will come after NEOT...if possible before Spring Sizzler - but it may not be - we still have to talk to Steve. We hope to get the carpet by the latest - this spring...

K&N will NOT close for these dates - however we will close off sections for painting, repair, change, etc - and restrict those areas to people. We will do 1 to 2 sections at a time - thus allowing those who wish to continue and practice/race without too much inconvenience.

With this news if you're willing to help PLEASE email me - we can feed those who volunteer and will forever appreciate your gift of time & energy!
