I never had any interest in these when I was younger. However, some of them are fairly acceptable. They do boast opening doors, suspensions, and metal base plates, which are features usually neglected on toys of this type today. There are also some interesting, unique castings of a 1980s convertible Chrysler LeBaron and a Buick Riviera in this series, that I do not have.

The Thunderbird should have a black roof cover "boot" that is missing from this example.

Tone, you have impecably good taste in vintage diecast. Keep them coming...

I like the Road Champs as well, (though only fairly recent). I always considered these junk back in the late 80's and hardly gave them a glance.

Interesting what was considered junk back then by todays junk class stands miles ahead in quality.

And these Road Champs aren't half bad at all. I have several in small cardboard boxes (like Matchbox cars).

My favorite of these Road Champs being the Chrylser Le Baron, 77 Firebird, Mercedes and the 56 Chevrolet.

I had the Firebird and an Olds Firenza and a Grand Am I think.

I have most of the cars mentioned, but I don't remember an Olds Firenza or Grand Am. Do you have any pictures?!?

:( no sadly. I do know it was around 1990 or 1991 though.

These are indeed nice, but they're very hard to find. I bought the Mercedes at a supermarket in the late '80s, and it's beautiful. I got the Thunderbird only recently...
