View Full Version : South-West Tour - OVAL SERIES - Kick's off Feb 11th.
swtour 02-01-2006, 01:56 AM California's OLDEST running Paved Oval Series kicks off year #6 at the Arroyo Grande High School - Saturday Feb. 11th.
Bringing OVAL racing back to grass roots parking lot racing, the TOUR has already picked up NEW racers, New to Oval Racers...and brought back some drivers who've been retired for some time.
At least 3 of the 10 series events in '06 will be held at Temporary locations in Parking Lots. This allows NEW spectators to see R/C Racing in action.
Also adding to the excitement of the '06 season are NEW Sponsors.
So far the growing list includes:
McAllister Racing Bodies - Jake's Performance Hobbies - KMR Batteries - Beefy Products - Gary's R/C Grafix - Maverick Oval Chassis - Stick-Et Tire Sauces - Fastlap Hobbies and Raceway - Team Associated and we're hoping the list doesn't stop there.
Other events on this years schedule will be 2 days of racing at the incredible Boulder City R/C Speedway (Just outside Las Vegas) in mid May, and a awesome 2 day event to be held on the High Banks of the ENCINO VELODROME in Southern California in mid July.
Keep an eye on www.southwesttour.com (http://www.southwesttour.com) for more and new information.

Sounds like a great year for the "The Tour". There maybe an old timer or two coming out of retirement this year.
swtour 02-01-2006, 09:30 PM ...at our "warm-up" race last weekend, the track length was about 325 ft. It should be pretty close to that at the series race too.
I'm hoping to have some pics of the location posted tonight... www.southwesttour.com
swtour 02-02-2006, 12:14 PM Steve,
I'm hoping we have 3 or 4 old retired racers from this area show up...
Here's a pic from last week...

swtour 02-06-2006, 01:39 AM Jake,
GOOD LUCK at the Birds and THANKS for coming on board. I think Donna From our Host Track ordered some stuff from you to get our oval parts in order...I'm going to see if I can get her to put a Maverick Chassis in stock too...(Gotta get the guys HOOKED first...then UPGRADE~)
Steve and I got the opportunity to meet up w/ Tony Staples on a trip I made to LA over the weekend...had a nice visit, a good BBQ (Great Salmon TONY) and a little race chat. Hopefully He and Steve will be strong w/ the Mav's, I'm hoping Andy Davis makes a few races this year too...it sounds like he's gettin' his ride DIALED~
Milky 02-06-2006, 07:17 PM Yea, It was great the first two outings but somewhere I got the car a little off, or I forgot to bring the talent to the last two races. As far as the TOUR Joe Im missing the first race, and as soon as we get some other dates Im not sure which ones Ill make. Unless I get some $$ together to put a Velodrome car together. I hope you can get a solid schedule together because Ill race whenever I can, whatever track or whatever series. Im hoping to make the snowbirds in 2007. Ask Tony why I wasnt invited!!!HAHA See ya later
jimmyoval 02-07-2006, 11:19 AM Beefy Products wants to wish Joe & the tour all the best in your upcoming season. We are proud to be a sponser for the new year and look forward to many more.
