View Full Version : Lapel, In, Asphalt Oval Outdoors, 1/6 mile
rockin_bob13 01-31-2006, 04:44 PM There is a banked asphalt oval in Lapel, In. They run go carts on Saturdays and are thinking about running 10th sclale rc cars on Sundays. Just thought I'd test the waters to see if you guys would be interested. 1/8 mi.,690' , track, barriers, grandstands, lighting, plenty of power, concessions and pit space. BC
hill jack 01-31-2006, 05:01 PM Sure why not. The place Is called Speed Creek Raceway. I raced go-karts there about six or seven years a go. Its located off highway 32
yokman 01-31-2006, 05:10 PM thats only 15 min from my house.i remember when that place was a junk yard about 15 years ago.i would be down to give it a try.

Where in Indiana is the track located. Sounds like a good place to race some 1/4 scale too.
Thanks, Dale

huffrcman 01-31-2006, 08:34 PM Didn't they used to race quarter scales there a few years ago?
BDDelbert2 01-31-2006, 10:17 PM Thanks for the location info. Will look in the atlas to see exactly where these towns are located.
Thanks, Dale
Mark Recio 01-31-2006, 10:25 PM Yes, until they moved to Ingals - Home of Jason Crist! In my opinion, It would be MUCH better to try and run 10th scale at the Ingals track. If you contact Rick Gauger he's a part owner - and a reformed 10th scale racer himself ;)
Monti007 01-31-2006, 10:42 PM if it was some what of a smooth surface it sounds like a fun place to race at. That goes for either track.

Found it, somewhere between Muncie and Indianapolis. I feel a road trip coming on. Catch some full size racing on Sat night, hit the RC track on Sunday.
Will the track have a website with schedule and such?
Thanks, Dale
Mark Recio 01-31-2006, 11:20 PM That may be an issue for both tracks. I've run a 10th scale car a few times on the Ingals track - but it's been a few years since I've been there. I ran both caps and foams, either would work. As for the Lapel track, even running the 1/4 scales, we only used turns 1 & 2 of the big track, and an access road that ran between the two turns as our 'front stretch'. We never used the entire track.
j21moss 01-31-2006, 11:56 PM count me in
rockin_bob13 02-01-2006, 02:05 PM There is a small oval in turn 1, a chichane in the backstretch, and the big oval. I don't think radios will work through the chicken wire fence. Pictures at www.speedcreek2.com. BC
latemodel100 02-01-2006, 03:13 PM Sounds good have to make some test runs to see if it will work or not.............
I could get my new .09 Nitro out there......
jason crist 02-01-2006, 06:34 PM I like the Ingalls track

latemodel100 03-05-2008, 01:29 PM So what ever happened to this.................. Anyone ever try it out it is a big track for R/C but hey if they can run on the Velo this track is fine as well.............
left lane 03-05-2008, 02:58 PM this what usually happens around here lots of ideas but its hard to get a good turn out in the summer ,the velo turnouts have been real low hopefully with the new promoters it will get better !i would race there all year if our crappy weather would let us!
