Have you ever built a kit before? Have you flown for long?

I have built two kits, flown for a couple of years and wouldn't dream of scratch building a plane, too much aggravation in the trial and error method.

I'm not trying to be mean here...but if you have to ask if there's something special you have to know to make a plane fly, then I doubt scratch building one is for you.

if i were you i would try to find a plane forum like we have here for the cars and get with some people who have experience in scratch building. i'm sure they could steer you in the right direction

I've been flying planes for over 25 years in addition to playing with the race cars. Scratch building is a very rewarding experience but it is not the place to start out with R/C planes.
Visit a Local Hobby Shop to get started in the right direction.
There are a few really good forums specifically aimed at R/C planes. They have tons of people that are more than happy to help you in any way they can.
