Got my new hellfire today...Holy $#%&.
Broke it in, did some slow laps around my track.
Took out radar gun setup clocked it at 53mph.
IF ANYONE IS LOOKING TO BUY A 1/8 Scale MT... This BY FAR IS THE WAY TO GO!!!
Once properly tuned and broke in it is by far the best 1/8 RTR MT, I HAVE EVER HAD.
For all you REVO lovers out there you may hate this BUT,
HPI has gone way over Traxxass's head here.
Suspension matches if not surpases the Revo's.
Speed no question Hellfire dominates the Revo
Turning capability is sick for the Hellfire at 50mph+ I took a roughly 110* turn.
No flips no loss in speed.
With my Revo which has a Big Block and custom everything the best of the best doing 50mph+ took this turn and went into some 15 to 25 flips.
I want you all to understand I've put over $1,500.00 In this Revo not counting its original price, this was my star MT, my racer, basher, everything.
And it just got replaced by a stock Hellfire.

Don't waste your money building a custom Revo... $$$$$$$ in the garbage
Spend 600.00 to 700.00 (depending on seller) and buy a Hellfire.
Money well spent.

Hellfire is a 1/8 Competition Monster Truck, you classifying it as a truggy when it is released as a MT doesnt make it so.

In what way is the revo a monster truck? Independent suspension and laydown shocks? Must be the under-sized motor... all true Monsters have small motors.

all true Monsters have small motors.

At a fear of getting into this, i will have to disagree with that....there are MANY "true" monsters on the market today with big block engines.. HPI Savage, DuraTrax WarHead, Associated Monster GT etc. all those trucks are TRUE RC monster trucks....independant suspension, 8 shocks total....yes i know they dont have the 4 link suspension the ACTUAL monster trucks on Speed Channel do, but for RC this must be a batter way, if everyone is making them like this, with the exception of the Revo.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't qualify to be in the monster truck at my track because it doesn't have a gearbox. HPI calls it a dedicated racing monster truck but I'd call it a truggy. My track is going to separate them from MT's.

That was sarcasm, in response to the claim that a Revo was more of a monster truck than something else... Yes, most monster trucks have big motors.

a revo was a early made truggy before truggys were popular ,but is not a truggy its a truck, not a monster truck.the hellfire is $600 and what you have to show for it?remote, motor, electronics, tires all will be taken off and changed to go race, you will have to put about $400 into it to go race besides the $600 you spend.a truggy is a buggy combination with the t-maxx style of tires and rims with the shock towers changed too.the hellfire is going to have trouble fitting in anyplace.you can get a mugen to race for $600 ,and you will still need the same things to get started ,but have a lot better truck to go race.
they cant make a class for every truck made they will have to make someone unhappy
revo's with hellfires or all together with truggys?in the columbus revo's were soundly beat by truggys in the turns.this summer will answer a lot of questions.

another hellfire thread...

im glad to see somebody enjoying the hellfire, but you will be the first that i know who thinks the hellfire is up to the competition...

i have heard otherwise about the hellfire, for one, its not as durable, two, for 600 dollars..you could have gotten ALLOT more..other than the hellfire

the stock engine is not something i would enter a race with..i would also have to upgrade the servos, and there has been numerouse complaints about durability issues dealing with the hellfire.

you also have to consider parts availability..and optional hop up parts..as of right now, i personally do not think its a good time to buy this particular kit..im sorry to say it..but i am stating my personal opinion with evident information on that particular kit.

as of right now, i would consider the LSP-R, the hellfire cost way to much, and the radio/receiver/servos/engine will ALL have to be replaced to begin with..you will spend wayy too much money initially to even be race capable.

it does not compare to the CRT, LSP, and the new Kyosho..i think HPI has to learn from this new kit..and hopefully in the future they will come up with something better.
